Out with Matt on the mountain bikes to collect a few controls for Caz. Very easy pace but some fun riding (illegally across the mountain in places - but as Caz told to, and he works for the police, and a national park ranger was collecting some of the other controls, we figured we were okay!). Bumped into a farmer who new Caz and used to orienteer, having done the JK in the '70s and still had all his maps! Much warmer out than yesterday with lots of sun and little cloud. Nice recovery exercise.

Extra recovery exercise. Too nice a day to head back so headed to the coast for an easy stroll and to explore further around Stackpole and Barafundle. Past through here when on a long run last summer but was too knackered to appreciate the area and didn't have time to take it all in. Very enjoyable but was running low on energy and getting dehydrated by the end.

Preseli Dip Dab mountain trial - 30km.
AS you'd expect from Caz the Hat, an excellently organised and very enjoyable event. Also lucky with some nice and mild but overcast weather, which made for good running conditions.

Course was basically a long O on a OS 25k map, with legs of 1-2km's and one really steep climb, the rest was quite flowing, but it as just about all in terrain. Was expecting it to be much tougher after so much rain, but he cold weather has stunted the grass so it was mostly quite runnable.

Quite happy with the way I ran, didn't have any difficulty with the distance, though I was ready to finish at the end! One major nav error when I nearly skipped a control - we were given an all control map and a list of descriptions, which I obviously wasn't going to stop and mark up. Planned the leg and got going, then realised that I'd missed the easy option and had to swing out to a road. Was bus running along that when for some reason I checked my descriptions again and noticed that I was skipping a leg. Was really lucky as had I gone any further it would have been a trek across a bog to get back online. maybe 5 mins lost, but lucky to save.

Only other nav issue was when a control number hid a vital similar feature, so went to check that out first. Overall it was fun (steep climb aside) and we got to see just about all of the Presli's. As much soup and cake as one anted after and nice to catch up with a few people.

Warmest day in over a month and plenty of sun to boot. Not feeling bouncy but a whole lot better than yesterday. Slow easy loop up to the Black Cock and out to the spur on CyA where I watched the world go by for a few minutes.

Body suffering from last night, though I thought I took most of it easy, guess I just need a bit more recovery time from last weeks endurance. Trails super muddy again but the day itself was nice.

Had to cave to peer pressure as Ben and Oli were cycling to MDC, so had no choice but to join. As locking bikes in a rough car park took my roughest bike, which is my single speed. The hills were very hard work.

MDc run from near Treharris. New route, but one that I had recced so knew just about all of it. Everyone seemed to like it and it was new to most, so looks like it will have to go into the calendar again.

Legs hadn't yet made the adjustment after a week on the bike, so felt wobble and slow from the off, although I was actually moving okay. Fun downhill on the bike track followed by the tunnel (much easier with a torch) and a good climb back up to the ridge to finish. Good run.
