To the ferry, a very easy and quite trip early on a Sunday morning on a bank holiday weekend. Lovely morning, shame to be leaving when so nice, but also quite glad not to be on the saddle for another day.

Dingle to Tralee via Connor Pass and a detour to Glanteenassig. Another cracking day, just a bit hazy for distant views. Glanteenassig was really nice and the lake walk very enjoyable - well worth the trip. Hard start up the pass into a headwind, but cycling thereafter was easy, but was running out of oomph in the last 10km.

Due to a booking mix up with the train we ended up getting the bus to Dublin, which worked out well but got in very late. Thankfully the roads were very quiet and again there were cycle lanes nearly all the way. Lovely mild but crisp evening.

Dingle and Slea head. Not a very exciting start, particularly the road to inch, but it was straight and quite safe and Irish drivers have definitely gotten a lot better at giving cyclists space than 25 years ago. Sunny all day, which meant our pace slowed considerably once the scenery got more interesting. Really enjoyable day, despite being long and hard in places.

A rest day exploring Killarney, or rather visiting places I'd not been to in over 30 years. Sun never quite came out, apart from on the way back to Beaufort, but it was dry and clear, which was a shame but certainly not bad. All much the same but a lot of changes at the same time.

Aside from a heavy shower after the first pass and some tender contact points, this was a very enjoyable route. All day on single track roads and 4 good climbs. The first was hard and was quite tired for the rest, but no rush so just enjoyed being in the hills. Long stop and walk at Lord Brandon's Cottage for lunch before the Gap of Dunloe - which was much easier than expected. Easy day in Killarney tomorrow which is much needed.

Kenmore to Waterville with a detour over the Old Kenmare Road. Nasty climb up into the mist to start, but just about clear enough to appreciate the setting. Breakfast and tea at Ladies View before a much easier rest of the day. A bit of sun but mostly cloudy with a couple of bonus wet bits. Not really nice enough to appreciate Derrynane, but it was still very nice cycling along the beach there. Evening at an alpaca farm.

Long tough one today, down to Glengarriff was quite straightforward but then took a lot of lanes down to the Healy Pass, which had unrelenting brutally steep short climbs, Healthy Pass in comparison was a lovely and a very enjoyable climb. Bit cloudy at the start but a decent day by the time we got to Kemare. Looking forward to less steep tomorrow!
