Orienteering race 1:34:47 [4] *** 7.52 km (12:36 / km) +410m 9:54 / km
ahr:158 max:174 spiked:17/19c slept:5.0 shoes: Low Top O-spikes

Day 1 Blue at WP. Between Lake Popolopen and Round Pond. Felt like the whole course was either straight up or straight down. R Foot really started to hurt on all the rocks from my O-shoes. L Foot (with the extra insert) felt fine...I must find a pair of skinny inserts for my R O-shoe and see if that helps. Solid race, but I didn't feel particularly fast. Felt connected with the map very quickly. Kept trucking along and kept my heart rate up.

Running warm up/down 35:00 [3] *** 2.5 mi (14:00 / mi)
slept:7.0 weight:186lbs shoes: Grey Kayano

Ran to Fresh Pond Park-O with Anna in the stroller. Did the race, picked up points, and ran home. Luckily Tori showed up early and I was able to race without begging someone to watch Anna.

Orienteering race 14:53 [5] *** 2.7 km (5:31 / km)

Park-O at Fresh Pond. Tried to push the pace throughout. Was pushed pretty good in the last half by catching up to someone from the MIT Outdoor Club...took me four controls to pass him.

US Long O Champs at Thacher State Park, NY. Had a late start time today. Knew that calories would be a problem, so I at a huge breakfast (2 waffles) and then 2 donuts and a Gu in the last hour before running. Also drank alot and took 5 Gu's plus two food stations during the race. Seemed to make a difference...didn't get that apathy I usually get about 1/2 way through a long course. Even had to stop to pee twice during the race...was drinking two cups at all the water controls because it was warm and sunny with no leaf cover. Did terribly on the first three controls, but then settled in to the race.
