Orienteering (Course Vetting) 2:32:00 [2] *** 9.5 km (16:00 / km)
ahr:122 20c slept:8.5 weight:182lbs shoes: Brooks Adrenaline ASR

Put in a gate out back in the morning, so now it is easy to get to/from the trail. Went out with Tori in the afternoon to pre-run some Day 2 courses, but ended up doing more vetting than pre-running. Not in the HR zone much. Motivation wasn't too high.

Forest Running 35:00 [3] 4.0 mi (8:45 / mi)
ahr:132 max:166 shoes: Brooks Adrenaline ASR

Finally got out to run this week. Turbyfill called the office today with two good tips to get some pay-off between now and Team Trials: visualization & woods running. Makes sense since you really can't change your overall fitness base in the next month: but you can tweak your concentration & flow, and forest running ability...also pointed out that there isn't much reason to do a lot of hill work between now and then. So, I skipped dinner with everyone else to get out and do some repeats up on the Stony Lonesome ridgeline (drove up and parked at the CDC, so I won't be destroyed by the initial climb from the house). Not a bad area to do this kind of repeat (I did 4 repeats)...small hills, not too rocky (for here, anyway). I am very concerned about blowing out an ankle doing woods running here. I must be very careful and err on the side of cutting a work-out a bit short rather than pushing it and getting injured. But, I found it hard to stay in my target heart rate zone doing this: let alone get into my upper zone.
