HVO's Red Course in NYC's Central Park. I left my compass at home on purpose (good idea from Pavlina on Saturday who was running (and beat me!) without a compass to force herself to do precision map work. Felt like I needed it once.
Course was better than I expected although a few controls were a little bingo-y...you were in the control circle, you had read the clue, and you still had to search around for it. As Tori said, very Adventure Race-ish. Didn't feel particularly fast today.

Orienteering race 1:23:04 [3] ***
spiked:20/22c

Had a decent run, but messed up one point (#15)that I knew going in that it was dangerous...an attack into a complicated area with parallel features. I switched to fine navigation, and I hit some boulders which I saw on my map and noted their location, but I tried to change on the fly, instead of making them my attackpoint. My plan was to look for the hillock on the flat (afterwards, I saw there was a missing contour line)...but I didn't adjust my plan when I was confronted with a different reality (the new boulder attackpoints).
