running race 3:32:31 [4] 30.5 km (6:58 / km) +1800m 5:23 / km

LHUT 2024! officially 31km, 2100 m, 3:32:31, 10th!

Rrrrreally proud of myself for this:)))) The course really suited me I think, most of it was on really small rocky paths that were super fun, with two big hills up and down, and a little bit of flat inbetween. Tried to hold back the first half and start pushing in the second uphill, just as I did at Romsdalseggen! Worked well, was only passing people in the second half, and in the last 5 km I still had a lot of energy to give - and I did!

Full race report: Start on asphalt (bleh). Then the first big climb (5 km, 900 m) went a lot faster than I expected even though I tried to take it chill. There I had some lemonade and off to the first downhill which was super nice but I held back to save energy. I was still passing a lot of people, but then I got passed by a girl !!! and my ego was hurt because that never happened before !!! but I decided not to be stupid and to let her go (i passed her in the end hihi). Then there was a super long gradual asphalt uphill (bleh again). Luckily the asphalt turned into a steep path so I felt good for a while again, but for some reason this time the hill felt really long and I almost passed out bc of the heat. But I made it to the top, I had some more lemonade, felt better again, and started pushing on the way down! Really fun downhill on a nice steep rocky path, and I passed two girls. Then it was only 5 km home, but the last 5 km were super flat and I was really paranoid of being caught again bc im a slow poop, so i ran really really fast. Luckily i have some super power that i get fast after already running for 3 hours so i managed to keep those girls behind me all the way to the finish. On those last 5 k i think i must have run my 3k pb or something, anyway, i almost died, ran out of water, was in so much pain, i was quiestioning all my life decisions and if i really think entering for a 50k was a good idea, and all that stuff... But then I was so heppy in the finish and i ate a whole bag of candy and i was so proud of myself that ofc im gonna do this again!!

Felt like I gave it everything I could today, but I still feel like I have potential to do more - like I can definitely get stronger in the uphills!! When it's steep I can tuktuk up quite effectively, but I don't have power to push... And my weekest spot is a gradual uphill on asphalt. There was one after the first downhill, it wasn't even steep, but I wasn't able to run and everyone was passing me lol. Also I didn't feel as strong in the downhills as I usually do, maybe I could start doing more orienteering :D And also I should maybe stick for one gel brand for each race bc eating 5 different gels, each of them having a different consistency, did NOT make my tummy happy, I felt quite sick for a while during the race and after the race as well.

You live and you learn! I'm really really happy about how this race felt, especially when I don't feel my strongest at all!! I'm excited for more :)))
