5 x shuniah loops: Messed up the route on the 1st, but got the next 4 laps right.

Ran the first 3 with Chris & Rebecca. Kyle joined for the first 2.
Overall, I felt ok. My left hamstring was tight for the first laps, then slowly felt better.

I noticed my right lower calf / achilles area felt a bit sore at times, but it didn't last.
My left knee started feeling a little achy near the end of this run. It's a very tech course and the constant twisting and turning with rolling terrain started to wear on the legs.

Sunday's towers won't be techy, but I'll be keeping an eye out on the calf/achilles.

Short run amidst a hectic day.
Tested the Huma gel (apple cinnamon) - consistency is less viscous than expected, which is great, but there was an odd texture that came from the chia seeds. Overall. Good.

First barefoot run in a while!
Originally planned on just running across the street in the school yard, but changed my mind. I busted out my old vibram fivefinger shoes and headed towards the baseball diamonds at George Burke Park. I ran on front lawns where I could and went on some short sections of dirt trails while in the park. The "shoe" is basically a toe sock-fitting lycra upper with a thin rubber outsole meant to protect the skin from things like rocks and roots. Not the same as completely barefoot, but given last night's rain and cooler morning temps, along with the fact that I wanted to run straight from my door, I opted for these.

I picked up this pair along with another (different colour) in 2011. I haven't ran in them since about 6-7 years, but loved them. They're hideous as sin.. but I enjoyed running on dirt/light trails on them.

Felt decent. My quads were a bit sore, but much better than expected. Energy levels were decent.

Beauty day out at the Giant.

So happy with this run. It ended up taking us way longer than expected. We summited the 3 peaks twice, which ate up a lot of time. Only spent about 10-12 min of combined breaks, but the 9:09 was moving time.

Ran with Rebecca, Kyle, Berglund, John and Ian.

I was worried going into this run, considering how I felt the day before. We moved slow and steady and I focused on staying hydrated.

I had one small energy low around 2hrs in, but then I upped my calories and liquids and got back on track.

I felt comfortable moving uphill and coming downhill. On the 6th and final descent (the head), I was surprised by how good my legs still felt. Somehow in that descent I finished over 6 minutes faster than the next people behind me.
