Trying to get some miles in before the weekend. Planned 2 laps of pikedaw ~20k but was clear while plodding in the legs were wrecked and wasn't going to be productive. Settled for 1 lap, mizzly on the ascent, nothing in the legs at all but again not surprising, need to absorb the weekend and last few days not push through and force extra miles for minimal gain. In general I don't believe in junk miles, think it's a silly saying used by people that don't necessarily run for the same reasons as hill runners (largely to get outdoors in nature), and especially if the 'junk miles' make you happy and completely change your mood, which it always does, but could feel today that forcing another lap wasn't productive. Enjoyable anyway with all 3 dogs, nice n quiet, cleared up for the yomp home.

Need some kip and to chill, evening wedding later and big day travelling tomorrow for the lads weekend so should mentally plan for a rest day, and depending how late a night it is get a wee 30 in tomorrow morn. Either way couple runs this weekend will put weekly mileage at perfect for the return build, easy does it

Running 1:10:14 [3] 12.68 km (5:32 / km) +507m 4:37 / km

Wanted to get a session in this week, today made sense. Didn't fancy a flat session and was thinking 10x2' hills but settled on 3x(3', 2', 1') off jog down which was ~same time, just for some variety. On hawthorns lane. Felt surprisingly OK on the reps, strong ish but residual fatigue, to be expected. Wup and down just around the j Foss loop, spied a reed bunting, first have ever seen up here!

Time to get some consistency in with sessions

Running 1:47:59 [3] 17.69 km (6:06 / km) +474m 5:23 / km

Weather set to clear in the afternoon and can't waste a bank holiday, plus ofc frontload before the lads weekend away, in Scotland, again!!

Fancied a Victoria caves loop nice n easy, felt OK heading off up pikedaw, surprisingly OK given the race and camping + rolling in at 2.30am. Though the good feels weren't to last as it caught up majorly on the way back on henside Rd, feeling really knickknacked, a crunchie helped but was clear the body was pretty done. Nice run out and good to spin the legs on a nice day anyhow but perhaps a cycle tomorrow to be sensible.

Physio exercises after, the kickbacks and knee kick tings

Left foot a bit sore on top, maybe had sense rides on a bit tight, just pressure sore?

Cycling 50:21 [3] 13.26 km (15.8 kph) +170m

Wet morning but cycled to three arch bridge +on a bit and back but didn't record, nice to spin the legs and stare at corra bhein from the bridge and soak up the bog myrtle smells and absorb the goodness, so much history in that bridge, and more to be made!! Also spied a male hen harrier hunting over a nice patch of bog, utilised the right to roam to get closer to it but had to go a funky route and it had gone.

Waited out the next long shower and packed up to head back over to Feolin, opted to head back today not tomorrow as the forecast remained poor and the Bank Hol Monday at home to collect thoughts and chill sounded good to hopefully avoid the post race blues. Super steady cycle, paps came out the mist, nice ringed plover and black throated diver while waiting for the first ferry, then enjoyed a hot chocolate at Port Askaig with great view of last pip and first 2 paps, unbelievable.

Thankfully allowed bikes on the ferry despite there being no spaces to book. 5 1/2 hour slog home not so pleasant

A top weekend, nice to have Caitlin join and she enjoyed it tremendously, the good weather Saturday helped.
