Orienteering race 2:10:00 [3]

Jukola leg 3. I was running on something like 2hours of sleep since the venla.
This time I started out more chill and cautious in the navigation, and it really paid off! Almost felt like a real orienteer at times. Only one mistake at 11 where I had to ask one guy where I was.
I didn't have the zone 4 ability in my legs, but I was still happy to pass many people on a long leg with trail running and also a modest kick to the finish.
The best part was running the last 6 controls with a middle aged finnish man who kept holding his map and compass behind his back about 50% of the time.

Run warm up/down 10:00 [3]
shoes: Hoka Torrent 3

Today's zone 3 warm up involved me running back to my tent, after I realized I packed 1 NVii and 1 VJ shoe to change into to race. Until today I had never though of potential consequences of having two similar looking pairs of shoes

Run 20:00 [1]

Orienteering race 1:30:00 [3]
shoes: NVii

Venla leg 4. Was on a slower team, so I just missed the second mass start, but still had to dodge a lot of walkers.
Really messed up at the start and ran too fast for my abilities. I messed up the first six controls, them got into a group of slower moving women and nailed the rest of them. I did manage to drop a lot of people on the longer legs with trail running, and in the finishing sprint.
Our third runner mispunched, so no results for us anyway

Map Walk 2:00:00 [0]

Today is my 6 year orienteering anniversary! :D
Tonight KuoSu had their first ever orienteering class in English and I was one of the instructors. Started with a half hour intro in the parking lot, and then we walked around the B course. I also got some good map reading/map walk so it was doubly worthwhile!

Orienteering 1:00:00 [1]
shoes: NVii

Jukola practice with a mass start with forking. Got thrown off a bit for the first control, but then got it back together after.
Ankle was not happy and it was also pretty treacherous terrain out there. It did improve after a bit, so maybe doing more than a 5min warm up is a good idea. Otherwise just need to hope it holds together for the weekend
