Orienteering race 1:10:00 [5] 9.0 km (7:47 / km)

Aus Relays running 3rd leg for the Stingers. Kas and Robbie had smashed out the first 2 legs and sent me off before Craney. Had a pretty good run, went wide to the track on #3 following Robbie's advice at the changeover. Missed #7 by about 30seconds though and saw Craney for the first time there. Then the combination of missing the next one a little and having a longer split meant he got through me straight away. So slightly disappointed the race turned out like that because I felt fairly good on the last loop and would have liked to have been closer. Didnt fancy my chances anyway, but I guess thats what you get when you make mistakes! Still quite happy overall though, and really pleased with how I ran after the long. Usually on last day races Im rubbish! Australia needs more relays. We really do, was a lot of fun.

Orienteering race 2:10:00 [5] 17.0 km (7:39 / km)

Aus long. Managed to end up with the last start for the day which I wasnt complaining about. Decided to try and start a lot more aggressively than what I did last weekend, particularly in the spur gully, and then slow down and nail the nav in the trickier sections (which I was assuming there was going to be a lot more of this time). Good start, reading the mining much better this time around and really tried to make the first few simple. Happy with my route choice on the long leg. Missed 6 a little though, and this was I guess this was the only time on the course where I didnt feel great physically. Missed 12 by about a minute, just standing in the circle not knowing where about it was. Think straight was definitely best on the long leg and Im happy I just decided to go over the hill. Coming in to the control though I had a pretty rubbish line through some bracken which was pretty slow going. Caught ecmo up not long after and was good to have him to run with for the rest. Legs felt great when I could stretch out but was starting to get tired climbing up and down all the erosion gullies and fighting with the vegetation. Had a few misses though which is frustrating, especially because everybody was so close at the end. What could have been! Much happier with this result though. Good to know Im up there even after a bit of a disaster year. So as usual this event has made me pretty pumped for next season!

Sprint Orienteering race 45:00 [5] 6.0 km (7:30 / km)

Really cool town sprint in bicheno. Frustratingly ran past the second control and lost about 30seconds there but apart from that it was a fairly good race technically. Must have just not had the speed or the confidence on the rocks to go as fast as the other guys. Weather was pretty interesting. Didnt mind running in it though!

Orienteering race 50:00 [5] 9.0 km (5:33 / km)

Schools relay day. Nothing had really been going great for the week so far so decided I would give this one (senior boys relay) a fairly decent go to try and get myself going a little more. Loved the bits along the open. Would have been cool to actually run it in a relay. Few small misses but ran quite well and ended up just behind Olle and Tim so Ill take that.

Orienteering 50:00 [3] 7.0 km (7:09 / km)

Schools individual day. Had the senior boys course but cut it short. Just jogging around and I felt rubbish. Foot wasnt having a good day either. Did a solid tempo effort along the road when I got back to see if I could get it going/warm it up a little bit.

Orienteering race 2:05:00 [5] 16.0 km (7:49 / km)

Tassie long. Things didnt improve heaps today either. Really just felt like I didnt have the fitness on the hills. Another huge mistake didnt help either. Running with David Brownridge for a lot of it. Then re-caught Max towards the end after he passed me earlier on my error. Absolutely miles behind a decent time, even without the mistake.

Orienteering race 1:15:00 [5] 9.0 km (8:20 / km)

Aus middle. Disaster of a race. Started really well but then proceeded to lose about 10mins all up. 6mins of that on #16. Just couldnt work out what was going on at all, both on course and even looking at my map after I finished! At least the splits are encouraging. Didnt make me feel great about my world cup hopes.
