mass start long. really like the idea of this race. started ok, was a bit behind the front guys on the left track to the first. but took i bit of a different cut coming into the first and caught up a bit as well as getting into a good rythm. carried this through the next few controls with oscar just behind lachy. really pleased to be with oscar through the really physical controls. punched the start of the butterfly in second feeling good but then screwed up massivelty doing the loops the wrong way. eurgh. lost like 8mins and was a bit out of touch then. doing an extra hill also took its toll i think and i struggled up the hill after the spectator. but managed to catch max and brodie and get away. max seemed pretty stuffed but i was pretty scared brodie was going to catch me coming across the oval. finished 5th about the same time down as what i lost in the butterflys so id like to feel confident that i would nearly have been able to get a win. would have been good. tough way to learn but im pretty sure im not going to make that mistake again.

Orienteering race 27:50 [5] *** 4.9 km (5:41 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 190

middle distance. pretty happy with the result. pushed quite hard at the end but should maybe have tried for some more pace in the bush. fairly happy with the technique but should have trusted myself coming down to 3 where i stopped early and lost 30secs or so. other than that was pretty clean. 3rd is ok. was good to have macey and oscar to run with at the end though.
1 PM

Sprint Orienteering race 9:54 [5] *** 2.1 km (4:43 / km)

ok race. felt a little tired but tried to run as hard as i could. managed to hold with simon for a fair while which is good i think.
