Interestingly, hip WAS sore today. So, was it the yoga or the pseudo-cardio wiggle on Th that did it. Time for experiments. Didn't walk about just rode back and forth in Jeep to Abbotsford to choose OUR PUPPY GYPSY, who we will pick up in less than two weeks! Hip calmed down miraculously in evening as I watched D make the fruit salad. Non-O-food tamales for dinner. Xmas lights up.

walking 25:00 [1] 1.6 km (15:37 / km)
rhr:60 slept:8.5 weight:63.4kg

downtown for transfusion at Saint Paul's - in aid of this did 0.5km/0.6km/0/5km, could feel right hip doing its whingey, twitchy thing so did not do the (optional) one km downtown. comforting cheap japanese food afterwards. Jeweler says he can't repair the silver cups, but...Acme can.

O-food tonight might be organic tofu & broccoli in a curried almond sauce with the usual organic brown rice, one of D's favorites. And for cultural contrast, a slightly altered Betty Crocker treatment of sweet potatoes, sliced & coated with cornmeal, cinnamon, cumin, and a touch of salt N sugar. Plus usual sides of kiwi/carrot/lil tomatoes etc. Was drinking some pear-scented tea this AM & reading about the origins of peridot & suddenly I thought gee I bet Chopper Reid would hafta punch my head, can a single person drink pear tea AND consider Chopper's" f**k counter " episode the best thing I've seen in 2006? Thnx for broadening our horizons, Shep. Dished out many plant baths today while waiting for digestion to make way for yoga - bamboo, plumeria, african violet, Xmas cactus, two latter both madly in bloom. Is gerbilling madly around the house a loggable thingy - some lists show it as a level two, which I never imagined attaining in my life.

core/upper - horsing about 14:00 [2]
max:80

decided to see if I unloaded grocery bins real fast while dancing/wiggling to internet kickboxing radio I could shift my heart rate - well, it did a bit, and so far I don't seem damaged.

Yellow Dog Yoga 37:00 [1]

after groceries rolled around on floor doing range of motion & yoga, then did Tree/Mountain/Triangle/Warrior, standing on nice non-slippy floor in kitchen. Tree & Warrior great, got good closing tantric visualization.

walking 22:00 [1] 1.5 km (14:40 / km)
rhr:60 slept:8.0 weight:63.4kg

woooohoooo! I saw the A380 today! It landed in Vancouver at 7:30 and I watched it thru my binocs from in bed with a cup fo coffee while consulting the YVR Arrivals online- then for lunch I went out and met D in Richmond and we drove out north of the airport and saw it, both decks, blue tail, big engines & all - two minutes later the snow was so intense we couldn't see it anymore. What a great experience, esp. since they may not generally fly thru YVR...in aid of this I did 0.5/0.6/0.4, only 5 minutes rest between last two but seemed fine. O-food is reheated beef stew over organic brown rice prefaced by a free-form asian-style soup with wontons, kamut noodles, seaweed, &...peapods. Szechuan I think - the noble triad of garlic-ginger-chili will be nice for the general snowiness of it all. Two glasses water. No more boil-water, did I say that already?

walking 30:00 [1] 1.6 km (18:45 / km)
rhr:60 slept:8.5 weight:64kg

hmmm, I appear to have successfully smuggled about 1.5 kg of American pumpkin pie back into Canada - judging from how my work pants fit the pie(s) may be stored on my butt (altho the pants did just come outa the dryer). This further adds to the challenge of going sub-G (as it is said) but I hope I am up to it thusly -
deployed first day of master-plan - 0.4/0.3/0.4/0.5 km with rests minimum 20 minutes between. Vancouver's snow is beautiful - I think there was a touch of freezing rain just before the snow fell cuz all the trees continue to look like an over-the-top Xmas card, ie snow is sticking real well. Read Thoreau's description of snowflakes from Jan 5 1856,pretty nice. O-food is vegan pasta sauce w/ optional parmesan, stri-fried super-tender snowpeas, & assorted organic fruits and vegetables for raw & fibrous virtue....no word on hydration except I remember drinking one glass of water.

Got out of bed once at 8AM and then again at Noon. Noon felt marginally better. Boil-water advisory is still on for about a million people so I am boiling water, drinking water like a fish, and heating tamales for a late lunch. They smell delicious. Dragonfly is out getting the snow-tires put back on the Jeep to minimize future skating episodes. Many loads of laundry need to be done. Now, lessee about this log...I notice the hip misbehaved with shaking & reluctance & then several days later after I FORGOT that, it became really sore. Good log, new info. Overall, I sense longer walks are not so good - I thought I could work up, and maybe later we'll try another stab, but I will try new approach of multiple short walks (2-4X, <0.8km each) in a day and aim to stay out of pain zone. Better pattern for when Gypsy The Dog arrives and needs walkies. Also, log "twinges" to see if they are important in tracking gestation of bad hip episodes which must be minimized on road to smaller poundage thus less joint-stress as per article discussed AP & myriad arthritis sources. My healthy BMI range will certainly allow loss of another 3 kg, I think. Finally, gonna see if I can "bench-mark" circulation in left pinkie by pirating some Training colors. Maybe twinges too?

admired the soggy snow when we got up, watched other people pack and depart, went for lunch down by the marina, played mankala & looked at charts of Gulf Islands, and got on the train. Stayed on the train for hours (and hours) as it limped northwards thru more & more snow. Got off train, dug out Jeep (huh? this is Washington state) & spent another two hours skating gently home in wildly varying conditions all involving snow and slipping. Went to bed at 2AM. argghhh. Eyes very dry & troublesome - wages of sin from days of pickling, I think.
