Saturday Jan 13

walking 50:00 [1] 2 km (25:00 / km)
rhr:60 slept:8.0 weight:62kg
Brisk puppy march 1.5 km in secret location, thru snowy woods, & evening 0.5 km walk to buy shiitake mushrooms - came back w/ oranges and an asian pear but forgot shiitakes, arggghh! 7-flavor beef N broccoli as O-food, yum!AOWN-like seasonal observations; pesky fruitcake is almost gone (I am manfully consuming it) so soon I hope I will be able to meander (slightly) downwards w/ PG; also with these clear days I can see at sunset that the sun has progressed back north (well, west, really) about two or three fingers from the southern stonehenge point on our horizon, a glacier-carved mountain on the Island. So things are progressing, G-dog's bladder getting 15 minutes bigger every week as the sun comes back.

Friday Jan 12

Note
rhr:56 slept:7.5 weight:61.4kg (rest day)
b'lieve we got us a flare... R shoulder & wrist, L hip (not gonna galump after skedaddling pup anymore no matter how cute she is, walking only - really crazy twinges like baby great white feeding on hip joint), & L foot all pretty cranky. Ice, no Tylenol so I know "what up"... Christmas lights down, gardening cranking up - refits for poor grumpy tropicals ("48 N what the H*ll!?!!")- coffee & tamarind already in midst of cut-back and rest, nice bath for smaller koa... maybe today some nice potting of small guys - two spiderplants, a nameless gesneriad, & some cuttings from Mikie's gorgeous little succulent-leaved thingy. Satay tofu experiment for Friday night dinner.
walking 20:00 [0] 1 km (20:00 / km)
two puppy walks, very gentle & leisurely but fun, about 1.5 hours total time ie lotsa sniffing etc. Also lotsa cowering from other dogs, this whole thing of "she doesnt have her last shots yet, please keep your dog off" is starting to condition her a bit that other dogs are freak-out situations...hmmmm....too many dogs around to avoid them either, maybe work on that more actively. Hip not gripping as intensely, just light, more continuous pain this afternoon, which I hope will correct quickly ie NOT typical 1084+ day O-injury.

Thursday Jan 11

walking 10:00 [1] 0.3 km (33:20 / km)
rhr:60 slept:7.5 weight:62.2kg
gorgeous, GORGEOUS sunshine on all the snow - puppy Exhausted after busy day of tunneling for Snow Mice (eeek!), habituating to monthly fire alarms tests & strangers petting her and invading her home space (she's never gonna be kissy-lovey to strangers, I think, typical for spitz breeds), getting salt-mix washed off her feet, and doing the 45 minute Puppy Loop through the beautiful snowcovered woods.
Yellow Dog Yoga 20:00 [1]
afternoon effort fragmented by phone calls, early grocery delivery, & lots of pain altho really good breath sync - also lost some range since last time, less than a week ! Gotta keep doing it every day or two I guess. Maybe a bit more this evening. Nice to bond with puppy while doing yoga. Burritos tonight, with meat in them to compensate for Stealth veganism the last two nights. also started some garbanzos for humus since somehow I got a LOT of organic lemons...

Wednesday Jan 10

Snowing hard. Staying home today to walk Gypsy through snow up to her snorkel multiple times - should tire her out pretty good, plus she loves it.
Doing good on hydration. Boy, do my eyes beat the cr*p outa me when I am dehydrated, its like they give up all their moisture to the rest of my body and become dessicated little gravel pits...
walking 30:00 [1] 1.5 km (20:00 / km)
as predicted, snow-walking with the O-dog-in-training with some photos. Best one is a picture of some generic dreary forest path with if ya look real close, the tiny arse of a tiny dog SKEE-daddling off out of the top left corner - I plan to use that one if she ever gets lost - "this is what my dog looks like..." It was fun but one of my yak-trax popped off at some un-noticed location, so we did some good ol' fashioned tracking-back, gazing at my mismatched prints til we found it at the gate from the woods. Second walk had lotsa huge fluffy flakes - walking thru the woods w/ the lamps lighting up in the dusk was just like going to Narnia. Almond tofu for dinner tonight, and I made up a monster pot of chili for enichiladas & burritos, yum.

Tuesday Jan 9

walking 40:00 [1] 1.9 km (21:03 / km)
rhr:60 slept:7.5 weight:61.8kg
0.3km/0.4km/0.5km/0.4km/0.3km - various looplets in aid of puppy exercise - giganto windstorm so she spent 10 minutes chasing leaves in the whirlwind infront of the apt building. Ooooh, and this little old mandarin lady fell down outside when we were going out on first walk, & I dropped G's leash inside by the bench & she was so good at just sitting & waiting, I ran outside and picked the lady up off the ground and hauled her inside to the other bench, I don't actually know how I did even though she was small. She only spoke mandarin so I could only check her for abrasions & watch her for a few minutes for things half-remembered from first aid, seemed OK & went off to her apt. I see her on the stat bike sometimes, and walking around alot in her unsteady way.
Note
saw old lady -seems fine...

doing well on hydration last few days, yay! My eyes are grateful.
walking 50:00 [1] 2.7 km (18:31 / km)
1.0km/0.4km/0.5km/0.8km - out for two real walks w/ the O-dog down thru the neighborhood for total 100 minutes, sat & watched people/birds for 10 minutes, & a quick (private) trip to Highgate for supplies.Good rests, maybe a R hip twinge? Now O-dog is massacring (looks funny - sp?) the paper bag from the liquor store. This may be too much in one day, monitor hips/knees. Remnant of braised lamb for dinner along w/ baked potatoes as a change from rice, maybe some squash as well....

Sunday Jan 7

walking 17:00 [1] 0.75 km (22:40 / km)
rhr:62 slept:8.0 weight:62.2kg
off to bike-park with Gypsy, practicing packleader action & some hand-signals which she largely ignored but hopefully someday she will adore & obey them. We all scampered back & forth for an hour on the rocks, teeter-totters, logs, hills etc... good for me too.
