walking 20:00 [1]

drove back-roads from the north-west down to the middle-distance on Red Plateau, took three hours but the country is sure gorgeous, Singing Lands & Criss Creek, semi-cleared with aspens and willowy creeks, lakes, saw a bear and (total over the weekend) fourteen deer. O-site frankly a bit dreary by contrast, but G & I marched back & forth getting small kids to pet her & investigating a defunct ski-doo left by sub-morons (Canadian sub-species). Went down to Kamloops for chinese & gas & more water, then back around the lake & up 50 km to Vidette.

off to the Interior, to our cabin with no electricity! Sage Stomp here we come...
"resort" is interesting, a bit annoyed cuz the non-potable water is not mentioned up-front (hmmm, OK how WOULD one do that...yeah) & the "equiped kitchen" includes a carbon monoxide hazard camp-stove, oh well, I can cook w/ the screen door open (it does a Perfect Screen Door Creak!!!) & I boiled water for 5 weeks in Vancouver, so la di dah ! BUT, there's a miniature horse, a dog that looks just like a wolf (named Sweet Pea), about a million hummingbirds, and utter silence beneath the swallows twittering under the eaves....
stopped at some amazing scenery on the way up notably Six Mile Point on Kamloops Lake, & a crazy set of transplanted-from-Utah red & orange sculptured cliffs just up Deadman Valley in the Skeetchestn.

annoyed w/ attack-dog owner, so did not sleep well. But I got my shower done in the wee hours, so I'm ahead of the game!

walking 59:00 [1] 3.0 km (19:40 / km)

0.4/0.6/0.4 downtown to bank and have coffee w/ Steve.
0.6km; pup very sluggish, staggered around neighborhood a bit and then carried her home - still has some appetite tho... will watch her. Apt looks like explosion hit it, must wrangle everything into proper bags/boxes this afternoon.
did the afternoon & evening walks, played w/ sprinklers, she looks like a leopard seal waving her magnificent jaws at the water jet (she kinda knows its gonna go up her nose, so she isn't immediately into biting it, but then she can't resist, and gets her sinuses cleaned)

walking 20:00 [1] 1.0 km (20:00 / km)
slept:7.0 weight:58.4kg

well, weight seems like it may be wanting to go down so we will try joint-saving weight of 57kg? see if we get there.
Bought a book called Grilling for Men, with recipes featuring pictures of del Monte canned goods, bottled salsa, & so on. I really like it & am going to keep it, it is a nice change of pace from recipes calling for burmese lemon grass which i then have to figure out a substitute for (also fun). anyhooo, O-food tonight is salmon & brown rice, snowpea/asparagus stirfry, a salad w/ strawberry/balsamic vinaigrette, & an organic pineapple.
G &I spent 90 min outside, walked in woods, played in stream, looked for dogs...

walking 35:00 [1] 1.9 km (18:25 / km)

over to the park on the other side of the creek to check out the "small-dog-get-together" at 4pm - not totally impressed as it turns out the dog that attacked Gyp when she was a little caterpillar toddling around the neighborhood ("oh, Baxter has "puppy" issues", that apparently make him run from way up the hill to beat the Cr*p outa lil puppies) is a main player over there - sure enuf, he attacked again despite ineffectual owner "issues, blabla, Baxter, bad boy!! bla blabla Baxter you come here, issues blablabla"... But now Gyp is as tall as he is and weighs more... she just kinda stood there and took it, then finally trotted quickly away from his freakshow ("bla bla bla issues..." still going on) Overall usful tho since G is so adoring of all dogs, I am pretty sure this has made her stop and think a bit which is a good thing... met another shiba inu over there too.

weight:58.6kg

oooh, it is warm today! went up to Highgate to shop for O-trip & meet Dad-in-law for lunch at Thai place, great as usual, I do love that thai coffee... even then my black jeans were a bit much, now G & I are back from our 1.5 km of carefully chosen forest trails (wild pelargonium & bleeding heart, blackberry, mouse-ears, dandelion...) I am really a bit overheated despite the shadiness of our route. Tme for tropical gear this afternoon as the WW pizza crust gets started... waldorf salad as well. (Nice new sichuan noodles & tofu yesterday, really tasty new recipe!) Gonna try & finish re-doing the patio as well.

thinking about packing puppy, packing myself, packing food, for Sage Stomp in Kamloops. Miner's Cabin at Vidette Gold Mine Camp is where we are headed, yahoo!
Maps, water, kibbles, butter, socks, dish soap, binocs, charcoal, chew-toys, camera, hat, dish soap, flashlight, coffee, sunscreen, OJ, raingear....little heaps in every corner.

walking 40:00 [1] 2.1 km (19:03 / km)

AM loop (well, at 1pm) over to park with lunch for eating in the sun, then around the base to see what the bulldozers have been up to, not too bad fortunately. Then afternoon walk around 5pm trotting over to cool woods to lie on the cool grass, winter-born pup having trouble w/ heat, appetite is down too. About 2 hours outside, I hope she adapts soon, and maybe shedding some more of her puppy fluff would help. alot.
losta flowers everwhere, forget-me-nots, buttercups, salmonberry, bluebells in the forest.... plus the cultivated riot of rhodies, azalea, tulip, apple blossom, etcetcetc

dad's B-day yesterday but he is off on the Pacific Ocean on the outer coast of Vancouver Island having fun on the "Uchuck" - I keep wondering if he is joking re that name or not...a few days ago D left his catching Features session open & I decided to see what it was like - smacked the avatar into a tree to see what happened (fell down, ummph, fun!), ran thru bushes (crackling), ran thru a lake or two (tedious) found out how to look at map (hmmmm, where am I, oh well!) went & looked at a tree that was in the lake, ran really fast in some clear areas, then ran off edge of the universe and got the avatar trapped on a little white square of you've-been-being-too-frivolous, so I went & got in the bath w/ a book & pretended I didnt do it...

walking 30:00 [1] 1.5 km (20:00 / km)

cool overcast day, took G for two cautious short-ish loops but w/ nice mix of construction site, woodsy paths, dog-friends, & pleasant suburbia. Feet are improved, flare just about over YAY!!! Got some major sparkly bling for M-day, went to Indian buffet yum!
