| wandering around the start/finish at Boggs Mtn. Very pretty campground, very pretty drive there. Sunshine at the lake, so filet mignon, asparagus, zucchini, corn on the cob, & maybe some not-so-great foccaccia on the grill for dinner.
Off to Redding tomorrow after D's second event at Boggs. |

| grilled up some shrimp & asparagus for dinner last night, plus some hot italian sausages & tomatoes to make a yummy pasta sauce later on for the fresh linguine we bought. D & G saw wild turkeys today ! Raining. but should be good for O-meet tomorrow & sunday. |

| drove back out of the Sierras, across the valley, & into the coastal range to Lake County for the western state O-meet this weekend. Got here Wed. night after way too many days of monster north american breakfasts & other overindulgences (including a serendipitous stop at Taqueria El Agave in Oakdale - asked the lady if they had ground beef for the enchilada I was ordering, no they didn't but they DO have carnitas the hand-cut old-style "ground beef", so yeah I'll go for that along w/ my beautiful heavy tamale & the luscious puddle of authentic lard-laden frijoles refritos...) so anyhooo, we ate some real nice chinese noodles & snow peas at a good chinese restaurant where D got the eyeball once-over from the chinese mamas running the place who asked him at the cash register if he spoke chinese, lucky for me he said no... |

| today we started late cuz G-dog got stung by a wasp/bee on her morning walk and then dragged D back to the hotel to regroup, nap, & generally get over it. So we went for a late lunch at the Ahwahnee, which was amazing, perfect berries, scrumptious onion tart, & a creme brulee to finish, all in the surreally beautiful & serene end-window of their stunning dining room, w/ golden leaves drifting down in the sun outside. D ate a very naughty soup & a very naughty scallop gnocchi, yum!
then we went up to Glacier Point overlooking the valley for a different view, WOW!!! Quite cold up there, but we brought proper jackets etc, so again G & I were able to wander at the two viewpoints we visited while D took photos. It was kinda neat(uh, frankly sickening, but neat) to look right down onto the roof of the Ahwahnee, I calculated it was just over a mile away (plus the vertical, maybe another half mile?) but we had driven maybe forty miles in a great loop to see it from a different angle...lotta granite in sight up there. |

| wandering various meadow paths w/ G-dog as D buzzed thru the pixels/electrons/bits photographing up a storm on the valley floor. I was very pleased G & I could do as much wandering in a Nat'l Park - turns out for Yosemite at least, "anything that is paved" is a significant amount - no "hiking" of course, but we're not hiking kinda girls - lotsa biking paths, we also went most of the way up to the (dry) falls on handicapped paths. Saw bear #68 twice, mama deer & babies twice, coyote twice... El Capitan, Half Dome, the Ahwahnee, Bridal Veil... |

| up & down the hill in Golden Gate Park a bunch of times at the reception/picnic, came off well, G-dog was fascinated by moles. Then off to Yosemite.
Turns out "scenic drive" south from Coulterville means TINY winding road WAY up there w/ no barriers. We went about 20 mph some places. arggggh, I hate heights! Other parts were more appropriately scenic. |
