Saturday Dec 8

walking 15:00 [1] 0.8 km (18:45 / km)
walk in Tulista at dusk w/ D & G, looked up thru the christmas decorations to see the star of lights.

Friday Dec 7

walking 10:00 [1] 0.5 km (20:00 / km)
little walk in Tulista Park by the US ferry terminal in Sidney to drain the dog. GREAT accommodations at the Cedarwood.

Thursday Dec 6

walking 45:00 [1] 2.3 km (19:34 / km)
airport wanderings (pumpkin spice latte, a look at the fairmont, a maple donut from Tim Hortons...) back from train stn w/ relatives, & a nice walk in the sunshine to the park w/ G-dog. This was really too much, must ice feet.

Wednesday Dec 5

Note
on tap... rosemary cracker-bread, spinach-walnut-mushroom ravioli filling, whole wheat peasant bread, tomato soup base, (PNW) antipasto, chocolate cake, white bean artichoke dip, and pasta dough... all homemade, vegan, & mostly organic. yowza. may do some of this tomorrow w/ help of vegan sis-in-law...followed by pizza from Me & Ed's cuz I won't have time to COOK !! west is pink & blue again. no weather warnings for a change, but we are waiting for a boil-water advisory.
Spent some quality time comparing 19th & 20th century plant taxonomies & descriptions - Muir's poetic descriptions & Audobon society Western Forests- interesting how common & specific names change, bark today is GREY or BROWN, Muir used gold, red, purple, silver... but overall astonishingly similar.
walking 18:00 [1] 0.9 km (20:00 / km)
over to the creek to look at the old resort, down to the parkway & back home, playing w/ Kelli along the way. tea & Disc Drive... feet hurt pretty bad, so icing too !

Tuesday Dec 4

walking 50:00 [1] 2.5 km (20:00 / km)
downtown to bank, Metrotown, short dog-walk in pouring rain, feel rather horrid, yuck...
Note
apropos of boating in the PNW...one Big Topic for this weekend is gonna be if we charter a boat next summer !! Parents are all giggly at the thought of strolling the docks in Sidney & looking over the candidates, ATM is reviewing online madly "I hate roller mains ! I think that one's poo-tank is too small, but that one looks pretty good", D is wondering if he should take the general one day refresher, or just focus on docking, & I'm sneaking peaks at my old radio operator & coastal nav stuff. heheheh...all that fun for totally free!

Monday Dec 3

walking 28:00 [1] 1.4 km (20:00 / km)
corner grocery to complete christmas shopping, around the block to avoid falling trees as the post-pineapple "Tropical Punch" ie high winds whizzes thru the area. ALL that snow is GONE !! G-dog found a dead crab, a dead rat, and a dead bat. generally just a gross walk. Tried not investigating anything where we didnt have all six of our feet on concrete, but she managed to find a nasty chicken bone right on the sidewalk even then. oh well.
Enbrel people called, the ball is rolling. hmmm. I think I'll start it after the family christmas this weekend. what if it worked ? I can't even imagine running. or playing racquetball. or fencing. would I start orienteering?! (I dunno, forcing my leg muscles & my head to massively compete for blood seems so...counter-productive ;-) well, we'll see. who knows what it'll do? cute lil chinese hamster ovaries.

Sunday Dec 2

Note
this morning huge snowflakes falling, Richmond totally invisible, listening to comparison of choral magnificats on CBC & doing expt of how many brandy-filled chocolates I could eat before D got up from his nap. (= quite alot but not quite all).
walking 20:00 [1] 1 km (20:00 / km)
just starting to get soggy as the Pineapple Express arrives from hawai'i (or, rather, the wet/fully warm part arrives, the wet/frozen-by-initial-meeting-w/ northlands-part having gotten here sometime ago) to dump copious amts of rain into the 8 inches of snow. But, there are still snowmen to bark at as we meander cautiously from one end of the block to the other. Met Eightball the Black Pug.
