12 PM

hiking 31:57 [3] 2.41 km (13:14 / km) +32m 12:24 / km

Old Stagecoach Rd. While it was officially a road, it seemed a lot more like hiking as much of it was snowcovered, and I probably should have had snowshoes, even if it was a relatively short stretch where it was really needed.
1 PM

walking on road 48:08 [3] 4.38 km (11:00 / km) +80m 10:05 / km

Northfield Rd and Old Farm Rd. Hillier than I would have liked, as I was tired from yesterday and I was wearing heavier boots than I would have liked. I need to stick with my original gut feelings of what to wear instead of letting myself be swayed or second guess my thoughs.

Skiing 2:49:54 [3] 15.97 mi (10:38 / mi) +2056m 7:36 / mi

Pats Peak, first day on my Indy Pass. Nice little area that worked out ok, even if I don't really like booting up in the car. Started snowing hard just as I arrived, so it was a bit colder than I was expecting, especially since they have only slow speed chairs and I spent lots of time on the lifts. Still a great start to my season. Stopped the watch by mistake when I was checking to make sure it was still running. 16 runs on this leg.

Skiing 15:39 [3] 2.07 mi (7:34 / mi) +314m 5:08 / mi

Pats Peak, last two runs. I don't think I've ever ended my day with the hardest trail I did, but I enjoyed Tornado, a double-diamond.
6 PM

walking on road 29:28 [3] 2.96 km (9:57 / km)

Finished up some missing nodes on Mass Ave and Townsend Harbor with J-J. Lots of traffic and no shoulders, but drivers are accommodating.

walking on road 1:06:30 [3] 6.44 km (10:20 / km) +73m 9:47 / km

Lena Lane, +. In and out on the private road without incident, but wasn't thrilled about the crazy dog that came flying out and was very aggressive to me on the main road. At least the owner apologized profusely.

Snowshoeing 1:15:56 [3] 3.78 km (20:05 / km) +32m 19:16 / km

Beginner MTB Trail on snowshoes with J-J. Great opportunity to check off a trail that should never be on the Citystrides list to begin with, but it gave me the opportunity to go out on the fresh snow with my snowshoes. A bit longer than I'd have enjoyed being out, but it was beautiful.

walking on road 37:26 [3] 3.56 km (10:31 / km) +15m 10:19 / km

Holman St +, with J-J. I have been saving this loop for a time when the weather was not very conducive to being out. The snow has stopped and the weather wasn't too bad, but I didn't have to worry about the fact that there are no longer any shoulders along the road to walk on. It's a pretty lightly traveled road.

7 AM

walking on road 42:39 [3] 4.46 km (9:34 / km) +66m 8:54 / km

Leominster Rd & Prospect. With the snowstorm bearing down on us, I took another unusual opportunity to get out before work, when there was still the option of parking on the side of the road in an easy pull-off.

Note

Making extremely good progress on Citystrides and can proudly say that I have blown away my goal of 66% by the end of January. I have ended the month at 89.76% (oh how I wish I had gotten 90%). Its been very motivating!
1 PM

walking on road 1:22:38 [3] 8.27 km (9:59 / km) +20m 9:52 / km

Fisher Rd +. Was warmer than it has been, and a fairly nice day, so I grabbed his chance to do a longer walk and check off two more streets. Thanks to Judy for letting me park in her driveway!
