Middle leg on men's open with sam and stan
Took the round but safe route into 1 while I got into the map a bit, path seemed to go on strangely long despite half the scale of saturday's map.
good to 2 then spotted a wild barber towards 3. Think I was pretty close to it but charlie came past and I wrongly assumed he was going the right way, so after a bit of faffing the three of us turned round to where I was heading to earlier.
Charlie disappeared and I led dan to 4 and 5 then came poorly into the circle at 6, had a few features that I was on the lookout for but couldn't spot them, knoll was a little lower than expected so couldn't see it coming in.
7 was also scrappy, should've used the green but tried to use the open which there was very much more of on the ground. dan caught me again there and we ran well together to 8 then 9. Somehow he ran straight past it but I thought our courses split at a gaffle there so didn't say anything. Didn't see him again.
Hesitant but pretty good to 10, was concerned that I'd strayed off my line but kept at it and came into the control well.
Scrappy into the circle at 11, recognising that part as I always seem to come badly into that control, need to remember to think about it there.
Fairly good to 12 and 13, not too fast but keeping moving and properly spiked 13 which was good.
Fair bit of path to 14 and 15 and came off well to spike those too.
Faffy to get over the railway to 16 but happy I saw I couldn't get straight across before I attempted to, came well into that then headed to a 17 which was in a vague mass of knolls and depressions. Was heading a bit close to the path but spotted it quickly.
Came off the path well to 18 and headed pretty straight to 19, pretty hard to attack this as was just a plain white section of forest but after slowing down I came in well and spiked it.
Should've simplified more to 20 but it was good, faffed on the way out towards 21 and should've seen that it was in the depression the other side of a knoll but direction was good.
Came into the finish and stan sprinted over for the hand over.
Great fun again, rained hard ish from about control 12 but that just added to the great vibe of the run.
Also pretty sure the heart rate is waffling.

Some unhappiness in the guts over the last day or so and was unsure of whether I was going to run until quite soon before my start. Glad I decided to though since it was absolutely gorgeous forest.
Head not in the map to 1, just couldn't pick out any contour features but should've just stayed on much bearing really.
Clean but hesitant to 2 then pretty good to 3, awesome underfoot here.
Got a bit baffled to 4 when I came across a path which I'd mind blanked over for some reason, came to eventually and came into it quite well.
Good to 5 and 6 then very messy to 7. Probably should've just pathed it but either way was confused with the very significant unmarked path on the way into the control.
Hesitant out of 7 and off the track towards 8 but good into the control. Could've gone straighter out of 8 but ultimately came poorly into 9 by not keeping sure of where I was and following distinct features. Some helpful other runners out gave me an idea of the direction of the right depression.
Hesitant to 10 but good to 11 and 12, slightly off to 13 but nothing bad. Ewan caught me here and I followed him to 14 and took my gel on the way to 15.
Was pretty much dropped by mid 15-16 but came into the control well, should've gone more straight to the path out of 16 though.
Recaught sam hunt on the way to 17 and stayed with him ish for the rest.
Followed someone 17-20 but I hit a wall here and slowed down a lot towards 21, annoyingly I hadn't seen that there was a pit just before the water feature near 21 so spent a minute near there before realising.
Path then straight up to 22 and caught sam again, seems like my gel hit here so was feeling better.
Found isaac hunter here and stayed with him for the rest pretty much, following sam down the bike trails but hesitating to keep dropping down to 23.
Rest was simple path stuff.
Overall some good stuff, running feeling generally quite good, most happy with how good the knee felt going down the two steep decents so looking very promising on that front. Can't wait to be back here.

Great day out with bae, lashed it for most of it but great vibes throughout.
Headed down some busier roads which was slightly dodgy but not the end of the world, accidentally went up the wrong road into the pentlands towards castlelaw training area and we decided that we didn't mind going all the back down and round instead of walking our bikes down the track.
Up towards the first reservoir and we found some big deep puddles that we walked through. Very chilly feet after that. We kept going but soon after we got onto the track we found that the valley was flooded with very fast moving water so we decided not to risk it and turned back down the road before we got too cold.
I decided to ride through the deep puddles on the way back as there didn't seem to be any potholes on the way out. Drivetrain was fully submerged which was pretty funny. Poor bike, chain was pretty rusty and didn't have any oil on it anyway though oh well. Had to leg it a bit after Ewan a few times once we'd got onto non-potholey roads but that helped to warm me up a bit.
KFC on the way back hit hard, wasn't too warm in there though and the cleats + floor combo was like ice skating. Still didn't want to leave but we headed back out into the rain and razzed it home for what turned out to be my final fraser court cold shower.
Hoping to do the full route for real one day when it's dry.

Clougha with bae. Apparently longer than he thought but I definitely told him it was about eight and a half. Sounded a bit like a him problem to me though.
Trails were good and dry which was great, nice to have finally reached summer down south again too. I think it was only my second non-foggy clougha run this academic year too, so it was nice to see some views.
Slow ish down the decent following Ewan but knees won't be complaining about that, felt bad about his new vjs on the rocks though.
Shirts came off near the top after Ewan's request for peak trail vibes for the rest. Good start to the day!

Sroc evening sprint with Ewan and the family. Generally trying to keep the pace reasonable for the knee health but seeming to speed up to a bit under 4:30s by accident. Feeling pretty good, a few nav hesitations but nothing too bad. Should've taken the fact that I wasn't going all on the pace to focus on getting the flow as good as I could really.
Love the doubling going on.
