Sneaked off with a small squad to some prime croatian terrain after bagging some maps from a local orienteer.
Got some euoc promo footage in the first section of woods before heading off on the training course.
Laughed at myself after messing up number 1 after missing the invisible path and got caught by hudd towards 2, followed him up the hill to 3.
Was deliberately holding back the pace a little as usual but was still pretty dropped by 3, then not enough simplification to 4.
5 was pretty techy and hard to keep contact on but dropped in on it well after seeing stan zoom past on a different leg.
6-8 good then got a bit confused on the contouring to 9 but sorted it quickly.
10 and 11 went well then quite crap to 12 and 13 which were both in large depression features and it was difficult to tell which part in the depression the control was in.
14 and 15 good and then was just slowing down towards 16 due to some awfully marked paths and found the boys waiting for me at the control.
Ran the rest at 15 second intervals from 16 so basically a mass start, struggling to match the pace but pretty much managing and even managing to look at my map every now and again haha.

Run 6:47 [2] 1.18 km (5:45 / km)
ahr:131

Warm up for the sprint.
I started last so was somehow highest seeded in euoc?

Orienteering 20:30 [4] 4.24 km (4:50 / km) +42m 4:36 / km
ahr:168 max:190

Generally taking it at about 80% across the course pacewise since the knee clearly doesn't like me running at top speed.
Course was fairly easy with quite a lot of non route choice legs and the ones that were seemed quite obvious.
One small 10-15 second mess up maybe control 18 where the feature came up quicker than expected and I ran past it.
Nice town to run round too.
3 PM

Run 6:11 [2] 1.37 km (4:31 / km)
ahr:143 max:154

Warm down with the bennett.

Run 1:12:28 [4] 8.38 km (8:39 / km) +890m 5:39 / km
ahr:159 max:208

Great hill run with Ewan, Gooch and Joe O'Keefe, got the tram to the outskirts of Zagreb and ran up to the top of the tallest hill in the area, think it was 1030m which was cool.
Shenanigans with Ioan not liking the grass at the start but he headed back and we got moving soon after.
Was more Ewan and Joe at the front and Gooch graciously running with me at the start, me panting away and him nattering along like he was slowly wandering.
Very steep from the beginning, some small declines and more gentle sections but mostly relentless uphill.
Felt my right achilles for a short spell but it went away not too long after, will be keeping an eye on it.
Knee ok, uphill is still fine, keeping it gentle on the steeper downhills though.
Great, sweaty fun, not loads of views from the forest but really cool to see some through the trees, and especially that the trees went all the way up to the ridge. Just not something you get in the UK really.
Best views on the cable car back down and got some decent photos too.
6 PM

Run 6:09 [2] 1.18 km (5:13 / km)
ahr:153
