Monday Jun 30

Orienteering 1:20:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks cascadia
Went to middle relevant map, although not the most relevant there is. Seemed a bit too flat to be too relevant. Ran a few short courses as intervals. Were some super nice fast parts but also some steep climbs and yucky grassy bits. Pretty good map and in general things made sense to me. Quite a good session until I got ridiculously tired towards the end.

Sunday Jun 29

Orienteering race 1:57:09 [4] 11.3 km (10:22 / km)
shoes: VJ Twister
Ran Finnish and Czech team long distance test race. It was an epic. Quite a few long route choice legs and climb. Thought I was being a bit foolish with some of my route choices early on and trying to go too straight. Tried to watch what a few of the czechs were doing as they ran past and seems like they don't necessarily go wider, but just decide on something and do it without stopping. I was a bit stop and start, trying to work out vegetation changes etc. and very slow up the climbs. Very long run but really good relevant training for classic.

Saturday Jun 28

Running 1:10:00 [3]
shoes: VJ Twister
Things still not going quite to plan in Czech. Couldn't get hold of proper training maps for today so ran a course on a very old map. I quickly got irritated by how out of date it was so gave up bothering with it too much and ended up just running along behind the boys and had a bit of a look at the forest. Not feeling very good running at the moment.
C • Hey Jo 1

Friday Jun 27

Note
(rest day)
Today turned into a rest day. Flew down to Czech early morning and had planned to run Finnish team test race late in arvo. Hadn't anticipated that 7 hours wouldn't be enough to drive the 300km from Prague to the race so we ended up missing it :(
We get another chance to run czech team test race on same map next week though..

Thursday Jun 26

Orienteering 45:00 [3]
shoes: VJ Twister
JWOC training camp. Ran a middle distance course following Rachel. Pretty tough and steep and cliffy. Felt really tired.

Wednesday Jun 25

Running 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks cascadia
Steady run on tracks on Sarfjallet. Didn't feel great but better than before I went out.

Tuesday Jun 24

Orienteering 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: VJ Twister
JWOC training camp. Ran long legs on Partille Gunnelse. Followed one of the girls on each leg. They were going well. I was a bit stuffed though and managed to hit my thigh on a log which is now really sore.
Running 48:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks cascadia
GMOK club training at Skatas. Ran intervals around the 10km track.
Running intervals 16:00 [5]
shoes: Brooks cascadia
Ran 8x2min intervals with 1 min recovery. The first 4 or 5 were okay but then got progressively slower. Sore thigh was ok once warmed up but pretty sore when stiffened up afterwards.

Monday Jun 23

Note
(rest day)
JWOC training camp in Gothenburg started. Went for a map walk with Bridget and Rachel on Partille map.

Sunday Jun 22

Orienteering race 54:49 [4] 6.2 km (8:50 / km)
shoes: VJ Twister
O-Festival Relay at Siggerud, Norway. Ran in GMOK team with Mimi, Laurina, Pippa. Ran last leg. Actually had a decent run and definitely the best one of the weekend. Felt a little bit more like I was actually racing rather than stumbling. Was still pretty tough but didn't seem to be quite as much climbing up cliffs as the other two races. Happy to end on a better note after yesterday.
C • good one! 2

Saturday Jun 21

Orienteering race 2:02:49 [4] 10.5 km (11:42 / km)
shoes: VJ Twister
World Cup long distance at Siggerud, Norway. Chasing start based on yesterday's results. What an epic. Ran quite alright for the first half of the course but then made a huge mistake of more than 10mins on no.19. Just couldn't figure out what was going on and saw heaps of girls run through me but couldn't work out where they were coming from or where they were going. It was a shocker and total failure to relocate. Made another almost 5 min mistake a couple of controls later. After that I was pretty demoralised and just went into survival mode for the rest of the course. Thought about pulling out lots of times as it was so tough and had a long way still to go but couldn't bring myself to do it and I forced myself to finish. It was a very ugly result though.
Running 15:00 [3] 2.6 km (5:46 / km)
shoes: VJ Twister
Jogged from check in to pre-start. Too tired to warm down, but had been warming down on the course for about an hour anyway..

Friday Jun 20

Orienteering race 44:11 [4] 4.6 km (9:36 / km)
shoes: VJ Twister
World Cup middle distance at Siggerud, Norway. Ran ok, no big mistakes anyway. Was pretty tough physically and technically and it was a bit of a shock to the system running in very foreign terrain. Had some good sections but just never felt like i was fully in race mode. Quite a lot of mins behind but was happy to finish mid-field for the chasing start tommorrow.
C • good run 3

Saturday Jun 14

Orienteering race 57:45 [4]
shoes: VJ Twister
Ran Venla relay in GMOK team on second leg. Had an average run. Two significant mistakes of about 2 mins each both for annoying reasons, got distracted by other people instead of running my own race. Found it pretty hard physically and technically. Wasn't a disaster but a little bit dissappoining.

Friday Jun 13

Running 30:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks cascadia
Ran on tracks in forest near Strangnas. Did 5km track plus a bit more. Did 4 30s ints with long recovery.

Thursday Jun 12

Orienteering 57:00 [3]

Sunday Jun 8

Orienteering race 1:15:39 [4] 9.3 km (8:08 / km)
shoes: VJ Twister
Queens b'day Day 2 at Snow's Hill, the south part. It was a good course and interesting area and tricky in places. Wasn't really concentrating very well though and consequently made a few mistakes. My worst unstuckness was on no.9 where it was a bit vague and low vis. Took a route choice which I knew was risky and stopped a bit early and got confused. Had some good sections though and felt ok running.
Running 30:00 [2]
shoes: VJ Twister
warm up and down

Saturday Jun 7

Orienteering race 30:20 [4] 4.5 km (6:44 / km)
shoes: VJ Twister
Day 1 of QB3 on new sand mining map (Wild Deer Sands) adjoining the sandhills. It was a super fun map and lots of detail. Had a bit of a shocker on no.3, and seemed to end up way too high and was slow to relocate. Missjones went passed while I was stuffing up 3 and we were together through the middle part of the course which was hard work as she was running so fast. Was pretty happy with run after number 3, just a couple of wiggles.

Friday Jun 6

Note
