Saturday Jul 12

Orienteering 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: VJ Twister
Returned to the middle-like map at stara ves to try and overcome my fears after the test races we ran there. Ran parts of the boys course from the final. Was going pretty slow but very relieved to discover it all made a lot more sense than I thought the first time. Have to be very careful and accurate on compass.

Friday Jul 11

Running 24:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks cascadia
Jog with dave from the woc accomodation in Olomouc out across some fields in blazing sun. Pretty different to yesterday.
Running intervals 4:00 [5]
shoes: Brooks cascadia
Did 8 x30sec ints with 30 sec recovery. Felt a bit slow but good to get legs turning a bit faster.

Thursday Jul 10

Event: WOC 2008

Running 1:50:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks cascadia
Did a run with Dave from Spindelruv Mlyn up up up to Pramen Labe, the source of the river Elbe. It was pretty bad weather and really thick fog so couldn't see any of what would have been amazing views. Was feeling very cold and soggy for the second half of the run along the ridge top so very happy to reach the kiosk at the top of the chairlift before taking it back down to Spindelruv Mlyn. Good adventure but one of those runs that is more fun afterwards than during.

Wednesday Jul 9

Running 36:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks cascadia
Ran from the village a flattish way up the valley to do some intervals.
Running 10:00 [4]
shoes: Brooks cascadia
Did 10 x1min intervals with 1 min recovery. Did the first five on a gradual slop uphill and the second five on the way back down. it was pretty wet and slippery so not the fastest intervals ever. Feeling a bit flat too.

Tuesday Jul 8

Running 2:10:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks cascadia
Did an awesome run withe Dave in Czech mountains. Ran from Spindelova bouda to Snezka, the highest mountain in Czech (1602m). Planned it so we didn't have to do too much climb up or down. Ran along a ridge which was partly in Czech, partly in Poland and there were awesome views. Pretty windy and a bit cold so really nice to have a hot drink in a restaurant at the top. It was surprinsingly busy and touristy at the top with walkers approaching from all directions on the huge network of nicely kept and signposted walking tracks. Just beat the rain back and had soup for lunch in a cosy restaurant on the drive back. Super nice.

Monday Jul 7

Note
(rest day)
Travelled from Prostejov up to Spindelruv Mlyn, a Czech version of Thredbo.
