| Race went well through first 4 controls. Conservative to #1, then started clipping along pretty fast to 2, 3 & 4. On the way out of 4, made a series of mistakes that killed my race:
poor route choice to #5
moved too fast, neglecting to check off features, hit a trail and made a 180 error
suspected something was wrong, but was in a state of denial and continued on in the wrong direction for way too long
finally realized my error, quickly executed a recovery plan, and took off without properly and solidly reoirenting myself
The consequence was that I spent the next 90 minutes trying to reorient myself somewhere in the middle of the Surebridge map under sometimes hilarious conditions. Finally decided to take a safety bearing home, tail between my legs. Never Again :-) |
