Ross' "Golf-O" training at Franklin Park. The ideas was to minimize the number of times you look at the map. Lots of room for improvement . Tended to resort to map looks once I got near the circle... also, since I use a thumb compass, checking my compass bearing also constituted a map look until I moved the map to my other hand so looking at my compass would not constitute a "stroke".

Orienteering 32:12 intensity: (11 @2) + (5:57 @3) + (25:01 @4) + (1:03 @5) 3.59 km (8:58 / km) +42m 8:29 / km

Ross' "frequent map reading" training, which I would re-name "distract-O"... I followed Ross' suggestion to set my watch to beep every 5 seconds which worked well for the 1st control. But the leg lengths were pretty short and I ended up going slowly through some thick stuff and - well, bottom line, having the watch make an annoying beep every 5 seconds was like having someone shadowing me yelling "hurry up!!" every 5 seconds. I blame the watch for all the times I got lost... :-)
