Enjoyable training with Alex in soupy conditions. Alex set up 2 training maps. The first training was a great idea, but poorly executed. It was a 3k course with forked controls. The idea was that we would take separate forks for a couple controls, meet at a common control, run a leg together, then run another fork, etc. Spent some time finding the first convergence location - then re-attacked from a known point to make sure I was in the right place. No Alex... Strange. I figured she went on ahead without me, so I proceeded without her, truncating the course since I figured she was way ahead of me. Got to the finish, and no Alex. Long story short, we eventually re-converged. Turns out, she ran off the map on the way to the first convergence point and was way behind me. She finished the course (bravo) and I enjoyed a mellow warm up for part 2.

Part 2 was to rerun a part of a Blue Hills traverse together - we took turns navigating so every other leg we could just follow or plan a route to the next leg. Enjoyable to run in the hot weather with company, and to talk about whether or not we actually found the correct control location. I found myself dreaming of a nice, new, crisp, clear O map of the blue hills where contours, vegetation, and rock features were all accurately represented - wouldn't that be a great resource for the boston area?
