Epic day. I wild camped again last night, up on a plateau near Rockville, just outside Zion National Park. Much warmer tonight, but quite windy, so found it hard to sleep. Then the rain started...then it seemed to stop and I drifted off to sleep. I got woken about half an hour later by my tent collapsing under the weight of snow. That in itself wasn't too much of a problem, but the fact that I had driven up a steep dirt track past a sign saying 'impassable when wet' was, so I bailed out into the car and skidded my way back down. I drove into the park and snuck into a pitch in an RV campground to sleep the rest of the night in the car.

Woke at first light and headed up into the winder wonderland of Zion. First of all, I went up to Angel's Landing, which involved a switchbax path then a precarious scramble along a knife edge ridge and steep climb up a narrow ledge. This was very sketchy in the snow, but it was early and cold enough that it still had quite a bit of traction. Then headed up to the West Rim, which was a tough slog in shin deep snow, and I was getting very low on energy by the end. Great views though.

Back to the car and headed to Vegas!
