Running 32:00 [2] 6.0 km (5:20 / km)

Strawberry Line from Sandford. Took it very steady and ran roughly 4x1500 with planks and core exercises between. Not bad, I think.

Early ride on a gorgeous morning before a long drive to Bristol. Longshaw, Stoney Middleton, Eyam, Bradwell, Hathersage, Ringinglow. Nice to ride on some bigger roads before anyone was out and about in their cars.

Another nice ride, this time into the White Peak to explore some bits that are new to me. Owler Bar, Baslow, Gt Longstone, Monsall Head, Cressbrook, Litton, Gt Hucklow, Eyam, Grindleford, home. All very enjoyable with a few major climbs. Completely bonked on the drag back up to Fox House and barely made it over the crest to cruise back. First time I have bonked on a bike and first time I have felt properly knackered this year; it's a feeling I have missed!

Strike day ride to the demo via Stanage, Ladybower, Strines, Ewden, Bradfied, Dungworth. Very steep climb out of Ewden was hard work. Pretty tired by the climb up to Walkley and cruised home after a coffee and a bite to eat. This was my planned route and more - I'm a little surprised by how much ground you can cover on a road bike!

61km all in.

Note

Chiro. Better this week until some sitting down last night flared things up. Some very deep massage, which has left me very tender.

Rebuilt my bike. Not a resounding success. Low point came when I finished the job only for Jenny to point out that my pedals were attached at 90 degrees.

Short test ride - not bad, bit of tweaking needed.

Note

Chiro. Bum and hamstring have been niggly all week in spite of doing almost nothing. However there seems to be progress on some measures - nerve pain has reduced and strength and activation seem to be good. Another week off running though. I will kick this.

Note
slept:4.0 (injured) (rest day)

Long dark night of the soul as Alex had a tummy bug and was sick roughly every half hour from midnight, poor lad. That gave me plenty of time to dwell on my own ailments and make some decisions. BOC was, in my mind, a test of progress towards the V3K at the end of June. That has been in the back of my mind as my first goal since the start of the injury in October and it has been doing two things: firstly and positively, keeping up the core and strength work; secondly and negatively, taking risks around the chiro treatment and doing more running than I should have been.

That goal is now out of the window and I feel as though time is back on my side. No risks from now on until this is over. I can't face another run like Saturday!

Sorry Andy and Rich for pulling out of yet another relay team.
