Sunday Jan 27

Orienteering race 1:02:22 [5]12 km (5:12 / km)
SYO event at Tankersley and the grand unveiling of Neil's masterpiece. Much as I am loath to admit it it actually is a great map and I would have struggled to find any mistakes. But it did take him longer than Michelangelo spent on the Sistine Chapel. Really great event, certainly the best SYO event I can remember. I had a decent run, kept the mistakes small and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Running 1:00:00 [2]9 km (6:40 / km)
Short sharp warm up after entering all the hundreds of EOD into the supercomputer, then a long warm down collecting controls with Mike and Neil. I got properly spaced out by the end.

Saturday Jan 26

Running race 41:53 [5]12 km (3:29 / km) vdot: 61.6
Northern xc champs at Roundhay Park, Leeds. Very fast course on cropped grass but a couple of big hills including 3x up the infamous 'hill 60' (thankfully not 60 degrees as Mike suggested, but maybe 60 seconds or 60m). Had what felt like a good run and moved through the field all the way to finish 62nd. It was an amazingly strong field, Phil ran well for a top 50 and most of the Hallamshire men put in a good performance. Not as good as the girls though, who won the team prize!
Running 45:00 [1]8 km (5:38 / km)
Warm up and nice easy warm down around the course. I'm glad it's over, a whole month to go until the nationals.

Friday Jan 25

Running 40:00 [2]7 km (5:43 / km)
Usual Loxley run.

Thursday Jan 24

Running 15:00 [5]3 km (5:00 / km)
Short and sharp hallamshire session, nice and abridged to prepare for the Northerns on Sat. 3x800ish around the usual Hillsborough Park loop, pushing hard up the hill then cruising back down. 2 mins in between. Felt better for it.
Running 30:00 [2]6 km (5:00 / km)
To the club house and round Hillsborough Stadium on the way out and back. My legs felt pretty flat after a day of surveying.

Wednesday Jan 23

Running 45:00 [2]8 km (5:38 / km)
Surveying at Stanton all day, rounded off by a run to explore some parts of the old map and a potential extension. Some of the most enjoyable surveying I have ever done, but felt tired on the run.
Orienteering 20:00 [2]3 km (6:40 / km)
Short control pick on the old map, which is completely rubbish.

Climbing 1:00:00 [1]
Pretty tough climbing session at the works. Nailed a few that I'd been struggling on before and had a crack at a long traverse, which left me pretty spent.

Tuesday Jan 22

Track session 45:00 [5]10 km (4:30 / km)
Looong session tonight. Drills and strides followed by 6mins, 5mins 4mins x2 with 2mins between runs and 3mins between sets. Running partly on track and partly around the edge of the arena, with a few sharp turns and the occasional incline. It was up to Rob at the front to chose most of the routes. Felt more comfortable than last time we ran this session before xmas, but it was still horrible.
Running 55:00 [2]10 km (5:30 / km)
To track with Mike and back with Rob, Mike, Dave and John.

Monday Jan 21

Circuits 40:00 [3]
Usual ShUOC session. A relief to be indoors.
Running warm up/down 40:00 [2]7 km (5:43 / km)
To circuits and back, chucking it down with rain on the way there. Feeling tired today, unsurprisingly.
