Running 25:00 [1] 3.5 km (7:09 / km)

Once Lova had disappeared into the night, I realised that I was very cold, hanging around in a deserted village with limited extra clothing. I put everything on and was still cold, so had to keep running to stay warm. Ran up the road towards Ogwyn and back and luckily the van arrived just as I got back to Capel.

Paddy Buckley legs 1 and 2 supporting Lova. Brought forward the departure by an hour, which meant a mad rush to get ready after the drive over. We set off into a cold but still, moonlit evening and were rewarded with cloud-free summits and dry rock, and even a layer of crunchy snow over 900m-ish. Things went really well route-wise with a few lines that improved on my own round, particularly on the Elidirs and up to Glydyr Fawr. Not so sure of our direct line up the face of Tryfan, but it was fun.

We dropped off a note of our time on the van at Ogwyn and pressed on without stopping here. The Carneddy were cold with a biting wind picking up on the tops, but were over quickly, Lova still going very well (I was struggling to keep up at times, particularly on the rocky descending). By the final descent it had become apparent that we were a long way up on schedule, although the schedule was based on these two legs being the final rather than the first section, so not too surprising.

However, we ended up beating the van into Capel, which meant that Lova had to set off up Moel Siabod without his cup of tea (or pacer, or food resupply). He dealt with it in a typically Lova fashion (shrugged and got on with it).

When I woke up in my car in Llanberis a couple of hours later, the clear skies had been replaced with low cloud, rain and strong gusting winds, which would have made for some very difficult conditions on the hills. It would have been a tall order to get around under those circumstances, so understandably the decision was made to bail at Nantmor. Next time.
