Monday Jun 30

Trail Run 41:30 [3]4.2 mi (9:52 / mi)
To Mt Orient and back along RF trail from Amethyst Brook.

Sunday Jun 29

Orienteering 1:31:59 [4]6.1 mi (15:04 / mi)
WCOC meet at Huntington. Didn't orienteer as badly as the per k time suggests: it was warm and muggy, and many controls were in technical areas, or areas of low visibility - and Lots of laurel! Made three 2-3 minute mistakes. But always figured out pretty quickly what I had done wrong.
Trail Run 7:00 [2]0.75 mi (9:20 / mi)
Warm-up.

Red - Splits

Saturday Jun 28

Road Run (mapreading) 49:16 [2]4.5 mi (10:56 / mi)
Mapreading jog looping around Smith fields.

Thursday Jun 26

cycling 1:03:05 [3]
Haydenville loop again, 2 minutes faster. 80's and muggy. Splits: 10:35, 18:18, 26:12, 36:32, 45:23.

Wednesday Jun 25

Track (intervals) 12:02 [5]2.0 mi (6:00 / mi)
8 x 400 x 400, with longer rests before 4th and 6th intervals. At dusk, but still 80's and humid. Splits: 91.3, 91.3, 92.1, 91.3, 88.8, 88.0, 90.0, 88.9
Road Run 33:00 [2]3.75 mi (8:47 / mi)
To and from the track, and between intervals.

Tuesday Jun 24

cycling 1:05:29 [3]
Haydenville loop, 18.4 miles on the computer, which seems short, but need to calibrate. Mid 90's, but not too bad on the bike.
27:04 split.

Monday Jun 23

Trail Run 50:43 [3]6.0 mi (8:26 / mi)
Juggler. 85 degrees: faded to a jog. (25:00, 25:43)

Saturday Jun 21

Orienteering 1:53:28 [4]6.8 km (16:41 / km) +295m 13:43 / km
NEOC meet at Northfield. Very poor orienteering, lost about 30 minutes, though 10 of it was because of misplaced flag. Woods very thick. (My watch said 1:47:28, but apparently somehow lost 6 minutes.)

Red - Splits

Friday Jun 20

machines 36:00 [3]
bike 18, stepper 18.

Thursday Jun 19

Road Run 27:52 [5]4.0 mi (6:58 / mi)
First four miles of old CTC race as a flat tempo run. Hard, but kept it going. Mid 70's and humid. Splits: 6:51; 7:01; 14:00. AHR: 157, MHR: 163
Road Run 17:30 [2]2.0 mi (8:44 / mi)
Before, after.

Tuesday Jun 17

Orienteering (training) 59:16 [3]4.7 km (12:37 / km)
Northfield, easy effort. Woods thick and buggy.

Monday Jun 16

Trail Run 1:00:24 [2]6.5 mi (9:16 / mi)
Frost to Atkins Res. and back. Very relaxed, enjoying the nice day. Section of trail from Flat Hills to reservoir now clear of logging and very nice.

Sunday Jun 15

Trail Run (race) 2:31:15 [3]13.5 mi (11:12 / mi)
Greylock Gallop. Moderate pace; no incentive to suffer. 17 minutes slower than last year (27 minutes slower than '99). Warmer this year (70 degrees and hot sun at the bottom, though not humid; and very, very wet. Wearing XC racing shoes was a huge mistake: no traction on wet rock or wood. Enjoyed it, but scary how slow I am. Splits: 57:21, 1:22:28, 1:53:19, 2:01:34.

Friday Jun 13

Road Run 31:18 [3]3.8 mi (8:14 / mi)
From UMass, including two Amity hills, faster: 3:23, 3:20.

Thursday Jun 12

cycling 1:20:00 [3]
About 22.5 miles with Peter. Nice loop through Westhampton, Leeds, Haydenville. Had to work to stay with him on the hills.

Wednesday Jun 11

Trail/Road Run 48:00 [2]5.75 mi (8:20 / mi)
Outer loop of Noho 5k course, from home via Smith. Humidity quickly zapped what little energy I had.

Tuesday Jun 10

Trail Run 1:13:28 [3]8.5 mi (8:38 / mi)
Frost to Depot and back. OK effort on a warm day; but slow on hills between Juggler and Depot. 24:53 (8:13, 9:37, 7:04); 11:48; 11:49; 24:58 (7:17, 9:48, 7:53)

Monday Jun 9

machines (crosstrainer) 30:00 [2]

Sunday Jun 8

Orienteering 1:24:07 [4]6.1 km (13:47 / km)
NEOC Club Champs at Townsend. Botched first control (again!). After that, did OK given my limited conditioning. Thickest woods I've ever run in. Went around green whenever possible. (Was first M45 when I left at 1:30, but would be surprised if that holds up).

Red - Splits

Saturday Jun 7

Trail Run 32:50 [2]3.5 mi (9:23 / mi)
Dog jog.

Thursday Jun 5

Track 9:15 [5]1.5 mi (6:10 / mi)
Smith track. 3x800x400. Best and most I could do. Ouch. Splits: 3:04.7, 3:04.7, 3:05.2
Track 30:00 [2]3.5 mi (8:34 / mi)
The rest.

Wednesday Jun 4

Trail Run 49:31 [3]6.0 mi (8:15 / mi)
Frost. Low energy, but tried to push the second half. Still hacking and wheezing. AHR 140; MHR 155. 26:01(8:50, 9:55, 7:16); 23:30 (6:52, 9:05, 7:33).

Tuesday Jun 3

cycling 1:07:18 [2]
Haydenville loop, about 19 miles. AHR 115, MHR 140. (27:50,48:21)

Monday Jun 2

Orienteering 2:00:26 [3]6.45 km (18:40 / km) +350m 14:41 / km
Day 2 Red course at the Notch. Very slow, but still very tiring, as I can't shake my cold/cough. Bunch of "mistakes", probably totaling 8 minutes. (Had to hunt for knoll on 3, badly missed boulder on 5. Also, tried some alternate routes: went around to reentrant at base of mountain on 7 -- very slow route! Frost, then cut across to power line trail for 11 -- definitely the fastest route.)
Trail Run 5:00 [2]0.5 mi (10:00 / mi)
Warm-up

Sunday Jun 1

Trail/Road Run 38:23 [2]4.5 mi (8:31 / mi)
Crashed from having a sugary iced tea 30 minutes before.
