Saturday May 31

Trail/Road Run 51:04 [4] 7.0 mi (7:17 / mi)
Mill R. loop. Pretty hard effort, in spite of lingering cold and having been up half the night coughing. AHR 149.
23:30; 35:03

Thursday May 29

road 31:00 [3] 3.8 mi (8:09 / mi)
Wicked bad cold, but did 5 laps around Smith fields, progressively faster. Last: 5:13 (AHR 159, MHR 162)

Wednesday May 28

cycling 54:12 [2]
Leeds loop, very easy. Have a bad cold, but needed to do something.

Tuesday May 27

Trail Run 38:00 [2] 4.5 mi (8:26 / mi)
Some with kids I coach for youth track, some after with dogs.

Sunday May 25

Orienteering 2:52:49 [4] 11.28 km (15:19 / km)
Team Trials blue course on Rockhouse map. My poorest outing in a long time: never felt either mentally or physically sharp. But still nice to try running blue with an elite field. Would have wanted to be about 30 minutes faster, but I made 15-20 minutes of mistakes (about half bad route choices that perpetually landed me in laurel), and I lost at least 10-15 minutes from hamstring cramping which started on the way to 8, and had me completely hobbled on the way to 15. Couldn't even run to the finish.

Blue - Splits

Friday May 23

Trail Run 24:45 [3] 3.2 mi (7:43 / mi)
jog on Smith trails with some faster pick-ups.

Thursday May 22

Orienteering 1:39:48 [3] 6.5 km (15:21 / km)
Laid out a 13 control "red" course at Mt. Tom. Mostly OK, but it seemed liked there were a lot more trees horizontal than vertical. Also, I got thoroughly lost on way to "eight" (north of little Mt Tom) and finally relocated 300 meters from where I thought I was. (Abducted by aliens?)

Tuesday May 20

Track 20:10 [5] 3.0 mi (6:43 / mi)
4800 m tempo run. 82 degrees. AHR 156, MHR 162. 6:40, 6:47, 6:43.
Track 20:00 [2] 2.5 mi (7:59 / mi)
Before, after.

Monday May 19

Trail Run 44:37 [2] 5.0 mi (8:55 / mi)
Easy jog, enjoying the midday warmth. Exploring trails in vicinity of Mill River, Puffers Pond, Pulpet Hill, ...

Sunday May 18

Orienteering 2:13:51 [4] 12 km (11:09 / km)
Billy Goat at Trout Brook. Pretty good run with no mistakes over a minute; but got slower and slower over the second half. Had company on most controls, but executed my own routes and maintained contact with the map (after first two). 45th overall.

- Splits

Thursday May 15

Trail Run 1:12:45 [3] 8.5 mi (8:33 / mi)
Frost loop on Mt Toby with PG. Decent effort, but low energy and pretty slow time. AHR 146, MHR 159.

Wednesday May 14

Road Run 34:27 [3] 4.1 mi (8:23 / mi)
Slow jog all I could do. Overtired.

Tuesday May 13

Track 8:52 [5] 2.4 km (3:42 / km)
6 400 m. intervals with jog rests from 2-4 minutes. 86, 89, 89, 89, 88, 89. MHR 161 (on last two).
Track 30:00 [2] 3.5 mi (8:34 / mi)
The rest.

Monday May 12

machines 24:00 [3]
cross-trainer, h12.

Sunday May 11

Trail/Road Run 52:45 [3] 7.0 mi (7:32 / mi)
Mill R. loop. AHR 143, MHR 156. (24:26, 36:10)

Friday May 9

Trail/Road Run 27:22 [2] 3.5 mi (7:48 / mi)
Smith, Mill River.

Thursday May 8

Trail Run 6:00 [2] 1 km (6:00 / km)
To start triangle, from finish.
Orienteering 1:47:17 [2] 6.7 km (16:01 / km)
Day 1 Red course from last fall. Mostly a vigorous walk; these woods aren't high on the runnability scale, and I didn't feel like falling. A few mistakes, though I always corrected quickly. In spite of easy effort, only 6 and a half minutes slower than when I "raced" it. Biggest problem seemed to be staying on line instead of zigzagging all over the place. Notes: water jugs still at number six (shallow reentrant); took a nice route to number twelve that went right by a hunter's stand.

Wednesday May 7

Track 13:12 [5] 2.0 mi (6:35 / mi)
Short tempo run. (6:36; 6:36)
Trail/Road Run 20:00 [2] 2.5 mi (7:59 / mi)
Before and after.
Track 13:12 [4] 2.0 mi (6:35 / mi)
Short tempo run at Smith outdoor track. Some progress, but still a long way to go. Splits: 6:36; 6:36.
Track 20:00 [2] 2.5 mi (7:59 / mi)
Before and after.

Monday May 5

Trail Run 49:35 [3] 6.0 mi (8:15 / mi)
Juggler Meadow. Energy level good for a change. 8:37, 9:48, 7:07 (25:33).6:53, 9:39, 7:31, (24:02).

Sunday May 4

Orienteering 2:04:00 [4] 12.22 km (10:09 / km)
CNYO long O (Red). Fast course, not as physically demanding as the West Point meet in spite of the length. A clean run overall, no big mistakes. Physically I could push harder, but my "O-technique" isn't ready for it.

Saturday May 3

Trail/Road Run 36:18 [2] 3.75 mi (9:40 / mi)
jog with mapreading

Thursday May 1

Road Run (hills) 39:44 [4] 4.7 mi (8:26 / mi)
3 Amity Hills. 3:31; 3:31; 3:33. Maxed out, and bagged #4.
