Orienteering 1:17:06 [3] 4.43 mi (17:24 / mi)
Did the outer controls of my Mt Tom score-o, counterclockwise. (Distance is from forerunner; the course measures at about 5.8k). (15-16-18-17-19-14-12-20-22-21-11-13). Ribbons all survived the winter, except at 11. Relaxed pace. Spiked them all except 21 which I tried going around on (to avoid climb) and wound up in the wrong reentrant. Tried some other new routes too, but none seemed faster. A decent week of training.

Event: NEOC: Rocky Woods

Orienteering race 1:38:56 [3] 7.25 km (13:39 / km)
NEOC meet at Rocky Hill, blue course. This is a nice little area with both physical and technical challenges, and Jeff set an excellent course. The mapping of rock features seemed a bit funky, and a lot of the woods mapped white are really light green. The biggest challenge for me was reading the 1:15,000 map on the move. But that doesn't explain the nearly 10 minutes lost on the navigationally easy #3 when I ended up in the wrong county, and couldn't figure out what trail I was on. Otherwise, a so-so effort with maybe 5 minutes of additional mistakes.

Trail Run 55:54 [3] 6.0 mi (9:18 / mi)
Met Peter in Greenfield at lunchtime to run one of his standard ridge runs (137 hills, or something). Nice to see him running again. I have a brief window to take advantage of his reduced fitness, but I was feeling kind of sluggish today. Still, I took the lead on the way back, pushing some of the longer hills, trying to create the illusion that it felt easy and effortless, and that only he was breathing hard. I think he fell for it.

Track 21:46 [3] 3.0 mi (7:16 / mi)
weight:148lbs
After lifting and stretching. It was still light at 7:00, but the rain and temp in the 30's kept me indoors.
Track 7:50 [3] 1.0 mi (7:49 / mi)
Warm-up mile. John Stiffler was doing 800 repeats and my warm-up was just the right speed for pacing him through one of them. Watching him made me feel young.

Tuesday Apr 3

Trail Run 59:42 [2] 6.5 mi (9:10 / mi)
Frost past Juggler to where it crosses the tracks, and back, with lots of muddy sections. I'm hoping to increase my mileage some. But today was an easy pace because ... well, because I felt like it. 9:00, 10:36, 7:33, 3:48 (30:58), 3:20, 7:18, 9:48, 8:16 (28:44).
