Mapping 3:19:00 [1] ***

More mapping at Ratlum Mountain. Managed to connect up some stuff, and tidy up another area that might be useful. Also determined that there's some... ah... distortion in one section that... might be a good spot for courses to run. But if people are just running through, and not actually looking for any controls in there...

Still pretty buggy. Not that I would have expected anything different. DEET seems to work better than Picaridin.

Mapping 3:58:00 [1] ***

Expanding the Ratlum Mountain map. The first part was some fruitless exploration of an area that would be very nice to be able to use if it weren't completely overgrown with laurel. After that I worked on some nice woods, but the mosquitoes were out in force, and were undeterred by the chemicals that I had at my disposal. Took one break when some showers came through, and another when the bugs became intolerable. I should be able to connect the nice area up to the rest of the map tomorrow, but I'm just hoping that things line up adequately, because it's hard to have the patience to make adjustments while swatting at flies.

Hang gliding! (Morningside) 40:00 [4] +365m

Nobody available to drive, so I carried the glider up to the 150' point eight times. I'm ready to fly from 250', but I've never heard of anybody carrying a glider all the way up there, and there's no mechanism for securing the glider on the trailer so that the pilot can just drive himself up. Maybe because none of the cigarette smokers who hang around up there can imagine walking back up to retrieve the ATV after the flight.

Running in terrain 32:11 [3]

Running around Mt. Misery, almost exclusively on trails (since they seem to be uptight about people leaving the trails, based on all the signs). Would have preferred to run at Walden Pond, but I didn't feel like paying $5 to park there. Also did a bit of unicycling -- not sure if I'm improving much or not.
