Push-ups 35 [5]

Augh! These were the worst ever. Charlie had a couple of 25-lb dumbbells set up on the floor to use as handles, so that you hold onto the bars instead of putting your palms on the floor (this works better for him because of his wrist problems). I don't know if it was that position, or residual fatigue from shoveling, but I barely made it through these, having to pause a couple of times.

Snowshoeing 1:53:54 [2]

With Nancy, Charlie, and Rhonda at Ratlum, doing part of what I think Charlie calls the Art Sweeton loop. Down to the bridge, then straight to the top of the camel field, across the top, up the hill, and back on the trails to Big Down Marsh and up to the house. A somewhat longer excursion than we had planned. Day-old crusty snow, and we were breaking trail the whole way. On downhills especially, there was a tendency for the tip of the showshoe to get caught under the crust, but I managed to not do any face-plants.

AOWN: Nancy spotted a pair of vultures sitting on a little cliff above Ellen's Pond, and all four of us managed to get surprisingly close before they took off. Very cool.

Shoveling 1:00:00 [2]

I actually have no idea how long I was out there (this is Nancy's guess), or what the intensity level was. But this was ugly enough stuff that I figured I might as well get some credit for it. Roughly a foot of fairly dense snow, topped with some crusty sleet-infused stuff. Had to chop blocks out in order to shovel them. And the stuff that the plow kicked up down by the road was even worse, must have been more than a metric ton per cubic meter.

Push-ups 35 [5]

In the wake of the shoveling, these were decidedly difficult.

Pull-ups 8 [5]

These weren't so easy, either.

Sit-ups 1:10 [5]

These have been tough the last few days, so I tried putting them first, and they went easier.

Mapping 20:00 [1] ***

Short walk at Boojum to fix a couple of trails for this weekend's meet (the weather forecast for which is not encouraging). Time is a wild guess. Didn't amount to much in terms of exercise, but at least it's something (had to work late tonight).

Running in terrain 47:21 [3]

Willard Brook SE loop, In The Dark (hatlamp). What a contrast to a week ago! Fifty degrees warmer today, even though it was after sunset, and I was comfortable in a T-shirt and O-pants. Pretty sure this is the first time I've run over there at night, and despite a few junctions that I didn't recognize, I made all the correct turns. Not as muddy or slushy as I had feared, though the streams were quite full. Got across the big one with dry feet (didn't want to step into snowmelt that early), but I broke through a few puddles later on. It was warm enough today that I drove home with the sunroof open, and I would have stopped and run at Groton Town Forest, but I forgot my O-pants at home.
