| The length of the beach and back at Tybee Island, barefoot on the sand. This was remarkably damaging. For one thing, there was a short section fo granite riprap early on that I had to crawl over, and I slipped, whacking my right heel pretty badly. In addition, sand in different locales can have very different properties, and this stuff gets really rigid when it gets wet, enough that people were able to ride bicycles on it no problem. The pounding did a job on both heels, particularly the one I had already bruised, and also left my calf muscles pretty beat up, such that they're still sore a coupe of days later as I'm writing this. And a couple of spots got missed with the sunscreen, too (no need to feel sympathy on that one!).
Swampfox would really like the scenery at this place, I think. |
