Orienteering (Competition) 1:54:23 [4] 7.8 km (14:40 / km)

APOC Day 6 of 6; North American Championships Day 2 of 2. On the Dalmuir map near Edmonton, Canada. I bombed badly (20 minutes) on #2 and had a very hard time relocating. After that I got better but later somehow got confused about which control I was on and made a type of parrallel error. I inadvertently skipped #12 in the process thus DQing myself. The bomb on #12 alone cost me about 27 minutes in error relocating and getting to #13. Besides these 2, I would have had a decent time but that's all part of the sport. This is getting to be a bad habit with skipping controls.

Running (Trail) 12:00 [2] 2.5 km (4:48 / km)

Warm-up for APOC Day 6 on the road and the trail to the start.

Orienteering (Competition) 1:25:33 [4] 8.1 km (10:34 / km)
spiked:7/13c

APOC Day 5 of 6; North American Championships Day 1 of 2. On the Dalmuir map near Edmonton, Canada. Got off to a good start on a map that most had difficulty with. I made 2 errors (one big) but got 4th for the day. This was much needed redemption for my last several disasterous runs.

Running (Trail) 9:40 [2] 2.0 km (4:50 / km)

Warm-up for APOC Day 5. Jogged on the dirt road.

Running (Trail) 10:00 [2] 1.8 km (5:33 / km)

Warm-up for APOC Day 4 of 6; Canadian Short Championships. Made a bad parallel error on the second control and could figure it out for a long time... Another bad day.

Orienteering (Competition) 56:28 [4] 3.52 km (16:03 / km)

APOC Day 4 of 6; Canadian Short Championships. On the Oskahtak map near Edmonton, Canada. Made a bad parallel error on the second control with a trail and could not figure it out for a long time... (about a 18 minute error on that one alone). Another bad day.

Orienteering (Training) 1:01:00 [3] 5.56 km (10:58 / km)
spiked:8/11c

APOC Model Event on Bruderheim map near Edmonton, Canada. Very hot and Peggy and I got there late. I covered about 10 controls sequentially, spiking 8 and going slow most of the time. It was very sandy but with low hills on a 2.5m contour map.

Orienteering (Competition) 1:44:41 [4] 8.26 km (12:40 / km)
spiked:6/14c

Warm-up for APOC Day 3 of 6; Asia-Pacific Individual Championships. Had high hopes because this should have been my type of course but lost contact on the way to #1 and #3 running wild. Relocating required going a long way to a fence or road. All-in-all a bad day.

Hiking (Day Hike) 20:00 [1] 0.5 mi (39:59 / mi)

Peggy and I took the gondola up out of Banff to eat lunch and take in the view. We were sore from the hike the previous day and needed to rest for APOC. The boarded walkway went to the peak of Sulphur Mountain.

Hiking (Day Hike) 5:30:00 [3] 19.0 km (17:22 / km)
ahr:120

From Castle Campground to Rockbound Lake in Banff National Park. Climbed about 2500ft. mostly on a dirt road with my full camera pack. Upon reaching the first lake, a thunderstorm broke out and it got very chilly. Fortunately Peggy and I planned ahead and had raingear. It was very pretty but might have been nicer if the clouds parted more. We took this day off of the APOC series.
