Orienteering (Foot) 1:35:52 [4] 7.8 km (12:17 / km)
slept:6.5

CNYO Day 2. I started well and read the map fine up to the fence before #2. I guess I was a bit high from there and began reading north for south or something. I got on the wrong side of the ridge and searched fruitlessly up and down the hill, getting tired in the process. I fumbled my way to #3, having missed the trail I wanted. #4 was better. I want the wrong way around the lake to #6, took bad routes to #7 an hesitated going around to #8. On #9, I drifted left initially so I missed the trail I wanted and had to correct by going across the terrain w/o trails. The later half was better but I was tired by then (out-of-shape). It was fun to get out, even in the knee deep mud. See the Split List.

Event: CNYO A meet

Orienteering race (Foot) 17:18 [4] 2.48 km (6:59 / km)
slept:6.0

CYNO: Red Sprint. I was late getting started due to watching Max and getting him into the daycare. I didn't have time to get my control descriptions into the holder which I ran with empty. There was no warm-up. Once started (about 8 minutes past my scheduled start), I slowly got into the map. I stopped early on the way to the first control, drawn by one on a tree. Going to #2 things didn't make much sense until I got over the berm. I saw Vadim pass and didn't try to push too hard. I was fairly clean up until #5 where I was off just a bit. A couple people converged at this point so I was on a train with Alan, J. Goodman and another junior. I was mostly at the tail end and stopped at each control to unfold my map and check controls. However on the second to last control, the end was so near and I'd just broken contact so I didn't stop to check the control number. Things didn't quite look right and I went on anyway. Had I checked, I could have noticed that I was at the wrong control. I think the mispunch may have cost me first place in +M45.

Orienteering race (Foot) 54:47 [4] 5.4 km (10:09 / km)

CNYO. I had an early start due to my mispunch on the sprint. I ran fairly clean until #9. Leaving the trail at a bend, I must have just ran over the top of the control. I then got distracted by another control and even went past that when I found out it wasn't mine. I fumbled a bit at #10 then caught-up to Jim Rayburn and another guy. Our troop exchanged leadse together most of the rest of the way back. I fumbled a few finishing-up. See the Split List.

Running (Babyjogger) 32:37 [3] 4.07 mi (8:01 / mi)
slept:4.75 weight:174lbs

From Rosedale Ave. Maple Ave to Kentucky Ave. to Rosedale Ave. to Kentbury Dr. to the Georgetown Branch Trail to the bridge overlook immediately above Rock Creek, back to Newdale Rd. via Kentbury Way, to Maple Ave. via Sleaford Pl. to Maryland Ave. to Rosedale Ave. I got home a bit early from an off-site meeting so I was able to take Max out for a spin. He was a bit cranky; perhaps he got hungry and a little cold from the change to fall weather. We stopped over Rock Creek for him to get out and look down the 100ft. or so below. More crankyness ensued getting back to the playground. I felt a bit slow but steady.
