Hashing 1:40:00 [3] 7.5 mi (13:20 / mi)

Hash at Abby's, set by Fluegels. Went through Terre Haute, some really cool open space by a swamp in Redding, then through Hoyt Boy Scout Camp. A little dark at the end, which slowed us down, and a big longer than the advertised 6 miles but a decent hash.

Orienteering 1:52:00 [3] 6.8 km (16:28 / km)

Red course at Sessions Woods. Set by Peter Grollman. Miserable, rainy, cold weather but fun course with lots of great route choices. Sloppy on several but biggest mistake was on 5--couldn't find the right spot off the trail.

Running race 1:04:39 [5] 8.2 mi (7:53 / mi)

Roxbury road race series. Pretty decent time for me. I'm sure the high altitude training helped. The course was fairly hilly but really pretty and half was on a dirt road. It's a free race they have every Sat with varying course lengths. Judd's bridge and back

Orienteering race 1:19:14 [4] 5.52 km (14:21 / km) +195m 12:12 / km

US champs day 2 in Buena Vista, CO. Pretty bad day with very difficult map. Lost 7 or 8 minutes on 2, a couple of minutes on 1, 5, and 8. Lost a few on 11 as well due to poor route choice.

Orienteering race 46:50 [4] 4.33 km (10:49 / km) +190m 8:52 / km

Day 1 of US champs, green-short, F-40

Lots of small mistakes but I could run fast when I wasn't going up hill so my time wasn't too bad.

Orienteering race 1:12:00 [4] *** 6.07 km (11:52 / km)
spiked:12/16c

3rd A meet, red course, Laramie, WY, First with the Most map.

Lost 9 minutes on the first control and had several other small mistakes early on. From 4 on, did much better reading the map. Should have been about 60 minutes.

Orienteering race 1:17:00 [4] 7.4 km (10:24 / km)

Crystal relay, 4th leg, WCOC 2 team with Donna, Peter, and Evalin. Pretty solid run with only 3 small mistakes. The map seemed pretty easy as you could see the features from way off. Stupidly missed the mass start for the leg though so had to do a 4 or 5 minute catchup.

Tuesday Aug 15, 2006 #

Orienteering race 28:02 [4] 3.0 km (9:21 / km)

US team fundraiser sprint course in Laramie. Really good run with no real mistakes to speak of. Walking the uphills as usual but jogging most of the rest.

Monday Aug 14, 2006 #

Orienteering race 2:05:00 [3] 5.1 km (24:31 / km)

Night-O in Laramie

Discovered this is just not my version of the sport. Forgot my nifty new headlamp and had to use an little Zipka. Took 45 minutes to find the first control and then had several more mistakes. Can't say that I had a good time.
