Note

Went to a public meeting re a new 6 mile trail to be built this spring from the southern end of Huntington state park to Rock House Rd in Easton, east of Trout Brook Valley. The land is former water company land and is now designated as the Centennial Watershed Forest. Rick is likely to be the lead on a mile of the trail building. The trail will be part of the state's blue blazed trail system. Should be a nice addition; the terrain is pretty, mostly open woods, next to the Aspetuck River, some mtn laurel but not tons of elevation.

Highly unsuccessful reconnoiter of a penninsula on the north side Candlewood Lake called Vaughns Neck. Read in the Danbury paper about how it was a large area of undeveloped property and partly a park with trails. After driving forever on Rt 7 and 37 to get around the lake, discovered a gated community that blocks road access to the area. Apparently you can only get there by boat. Stopped and did a quick run before dark at an open space near the lake. The marked trail just died about 1/2 mile into the open space.
