Sunday May 20

Orienteering race 3:01:30 [3] 12.5 km (14:31 / km) +460m 12:16 / km
Billygoat at Thacher State Park in NY, compliments of EMPO. Ran with Rich N., nice easy pace with lots of pauses to confer on route choices. Only significant problem was #5, where we lost about 8 minutes. A really fun Billygoat.

Saturday May 19

Event: Billygoat

Orienteering race 23:50 [3] *** 2.28 km (10:27 / km) +75m 8:59 / km
spiked:7/8c
Billygoat sprint 1, Camp Pinnacle

I did this sprint 2nd so was probably running slower than on sprint 2. Found the woods thick and slippery in the pouring rain. Tried to take it easy to save energy for tomorrow.
Orienteering race 19:43 [4] *** 2.22 km (8:53 / km) +60m 7:49 / km
spiked:7/8c
Billygoat sprint 2, Camp Pinnacle map

Did this one first and liked the course better than sprint 1. Veered too far north to 2 and ran around on the big trail to it.

Sprint 1 - Splits

Sprint 2 - Splits

Thursday May 17

Hashing long 1:40:00 [3] 7.0 mi (14:17 / mi)

Weights 15:00 [2]

Sunday May 13

Note
Regaine. We decided to sleep for the night so didn't run the 3rd leg. Temps were in the mid 30's. Comfortable running but really cold otherwise.
C • sounds like fun 3
Orienteering long (Rogaine) 3:45:00 [3] *** 16 km (14:04 / km)
spiked:7/9c
Regaine leg 4, from 8 am to noon.

Did as much of the northwest section as I could. Was tired enough from the day before that I wasn't running much and didn't cover as much territory as I wanted.

Saturday May 12

Event: Huntington SP Local

Orienteering long (Rogaine) 2:00:00 [4] *** 12 km (10:00 / km)
spiked:6/7c
CNYO Regaine, teamed with Rick.

This was my first leg, from 4 to 6 pm. It should have been 3 hours but Rick came back 20 minutes late so I couldn't start until an hour into my leg. Did the controls just to the southeast of basecamp. After hearing Rick's tale of thick woods and losing so much time, I stuck to roads and trails and did a lot of running.
Orienteering long (Rogaine) 2:02:00 [4] *** 14 km (8:43 / km)
spiked:4/4c
Regaine leg 2, 10 pm to midnight. Decided to do mostly roads for the night run. The loop was so long with no real options for shortcutting that I was late returning and didn't get all the controls I hoped for.

Thursday May 10

Weights 15:00 [2]
Hashing 1:30:00 [3] 7.2 mi (12:29 / mi)
Hash set by Donna at Huntington. Tried to take it easy for the Regaine.

Wednesday May 9

Strength training 25:00 [3]
video

Tuesday May 8

Running long 1:47:00 [3] 10.4 mi (10:17 / mi)
Run from home to Huntington and back with Kim. Didn't wear my footpod but pretty close to the run I did last week.

Sunday May 6

Event: Pond Mountain Local

Orienteering race 1:45:00 [3] 6.5 km (16:09 / km) +190m 14:06 / km
Red course at Pond Mtn. Not a great run. I was tired from running a lot this week and then lost even more motivation after losing time at a misplaced control. Beautiful weather though and as usual, some areas of nice technical terrain.

Saturday May 5

Hashing 2:00:00 [3] 8.0 mi (14:59 / mi)
NY AGM, starting from Valley Forge and Rt 53, thru Devil's Den. Set by John S and Kent. Lots of trouble finding flour on the eagle (Kent's portion).

Thursday May 3

Hashing 1:13:00 [3] 5.5 mi (13:16 / mi)
Hash from West Redding train station, set by Zach. Throught Hoyt, New Pond Farm, Redding open space and then to Topstone.

Wednesday May 2

Strength training 30:00 [3]
video; Probably won't do this for much longer. I can't imagine exercising inside during the heat of the summer.

Tuesday May 1

Weights 15:00 [2]
Running long 1:47:26 [3] 10.44 mi (10:17 / mi)
Run to Huntington, short trail run there, and back home. Mostly trails, some road.
