Orienteering race (Bubo Cup Day 4) 53:04 [5] **** 5.07 km (10:28 / km) +132m 9:16 / km
spiked:16/17c shoes: Inov8 Trailroc 255

Started well but blew up badly on the 3rd when logic went out the window and I opted to go straight through a light green area when I had been using track options all week! Very lucky to only lose 10 minutes as I met a guy in the forest who told me I had run off the map!! He was mapping the adjoining area for next year.....

Found 4 before 3 and then didn't miss a beat for the rest of the course. Very frustrating.

Overall a great event, well organised with good courses. Despite early starts on days 2-4, temperatures were 30+ before 9:00am every day and humidity was stifling.

Deb had another very good week to finish on the podium in 3rd place again:-)

Orienteering race (Bubo Cup Day 3) 52:02 [5] **** 4.14 km (12:34 / km) +175m 10:23 / km
spiked:14/15c shoes: Inov8 Trailroc 255

Same forest as Day 1 but back on 1:7500. Clean start 1 and 2 then left on 3. Good for the rest of the course but struggled getting through the terrain at times with 5% climb not helping! Best run of the 2 events both in terms of placing (8 of 23) and time behind winner (~10 minutes).

Deb dropped a few minutes but held 3rd place overall - heading for another podium?

Orienteering race (Bubo Cup Day 2) 49:13 [5] ***** 5.34 km (9:13 / km) +54m 8:46 / km
spiked:12/14c shoes: Inov8 Trailroc 255

Unique map of olive groves with lots of stone walls and linear areas of loose stone (mapped as grey). Slow again to 1, mostly track run, sorting out mapping. Drifted left on 2 and dumb error on 8 only mistakes but my pace in this terrain is no match for the Scandinavians. Enjoyed the challenge but not sure I'd rush back to run here again!

Deb on the other hand would love to come back as she had a great run and won her class by more than 2 minutes on a 2.9km course!

Orienteering race (Bubo Cup Day 1) 23:40 [5] *** 2.35 km (10:04 / km) +26m 9:32 / km
spiked:16/17c shoes: Inov8 Trailroc 255

Forest sprint. Slow, especially on leg 1 getting used to mapping and 1:5000 scale. Good on all the others except 7 where I didn't see the depression (flag was below ground level). 16 was odd: mapped as brown cross (tree root?), description was broad spur and flag was in small depression but number was right!! Nice open forest compared with last week in Slovenia.

Deb ran very well to be 3rd after the first day.
