Monday Dec 22

Note
so we had a pretty big (6.5) earthquake today. the center was 250 miles away, but our building was still rolling quite a bit...

Sunday Dec 21

other (hiking) 3:00:00 [4]9.8 mi (18:22 / mi) +2000m 6:59 / km
hiked up san gorgonio mt. some patchy snow on top, but all crunchy and not deep. brought the snowshoes but never used them. summited about 3pm. didn't see anyone all day. time actually closer to 6 hours.
other (hiking) 2:30:00 [3]9.8 mi (15:18 / mi)
run/hike down. totally dark by about halfway down. went for a while in the dark, but stopped to get out the headlamp when it dropped into the steep valley. loose rock + ice + dark = no good

Saturday Dec 20

mapping 2:00:00 [1]
Santa Fe dam. mostly walking around to get a feel for the place. totally flat area, a lot of detail contours (never more than 1 high). surprisingly few trails in the detailed section. navigation is going to be either mini-contours or vegetation (passable cactus or impassable cactus), there isn't too much else there. although I did find what looks like an upside-down dump truck...

Thursday Dec 18

soccer 1:00:00 [3]

Tuesday Dec 16

Monday Dec 8

run 26:25 [2]3.0 mi (8:47 / mi)
late run after late work. had free chinese food for dinner at work which didn't help. good clear night though. could use some snow.

Sunday Dec 7

orienteering 1:27:53 [3]6.3 km (13:57 / km) +300m 11:16 / km
Vasquez Day 2 blue
better than yesterday. still had three big mistakes, but they were 3-5 mins, not 10. didn't get quite as frustrated with the terrain today.

Saturday Dec 6

orienteering 1:56:40 [4]6.5 km (17:57 / km) +340m 14:14 / km
Vasquez Rocks day 1 blue.
Awesome area, definitely LAOC's best technical map I've seen so far. Map was printed with some whacked colors though, green didn't show up (wasn't much anyways), and the contours were a really light tan. with the multitude of black (cliffs, rocks) on the map, it made it pretty hard to read them. but still a great map and area. bombed a few legs pretty good.

Blue - Splits

Thursday Dec 4

soccer 1:00:00 [3]

Tuesday Dec 2

soccer 1:00:00 [3]
