Long run around Castle Peak. Started in Soda Springs, ran up through ASC to the Boreal PCT trailhead, took that up and out on the backside of Castle Peak towards Warren Lake. Never been back there, its pretty nice. Then up Basin Peak and along the ridge and up Castle Peak, which gets appropriate ridgeline points for being awesome. Then down and a loop around Hole in the Ground back to the car.

Did better on the water/salt/food trifecta today, didn't bonk, though I was pretty beat by the end. Slipped and fell on a rock-in-dusty-trail on a downhill just at the end, and one leg instacramped, but not too bad and that was all. Took 7 salt pills, 8-10 gu/blocks/granola bars, and drank 5.5 liters of water. Then drank another 1-2 at the car, then had two cheeseburgers and a big coke, and still lost 14 lbs for the day...

The new toy is a Sawyer Mini water filter, which is super tiny and light, but hopefully works. Guess we'll find out in a couple days. Its slow as crap though. There were streams a plenty on the east side of the crest, because both Castle Peak and Basin still have snowfields and thus snowmelt. But for the second half on the west side everything was bone dry except for the one lake I went sortof nearby to. It looks appealing but was actually full of slime and dead flies. Drank it anyway, we'll see how good the filter was. Also dead flies clog up a filter cartridge asap.

Also ran into a friend from high school coming down castle peak. Go figure.
