More ski-o with Jon on the new trails. We're up to a full page map at 1:4000 now, with enough trails for 40 mins? Good stuff. Course A

Ski-o with Jon Owens, new courses today. Tracks had set up a little more than yesterday, but still punchy. Course A

All downhill all the time! Sort of anyway. And as many circles as I could cram onto the map. Course B

Grooming more trails! I'm actually getting good at this. Not just driving but also making good loops so it's easy to turn around and repack stuff efficiently, and remembering which ones need to be repacked before going somewhere else, which is a lot harder than it sounds.

Also driving this thing is a legit workout. My whole upper body feels trashed. It doesn't really turn on its own, you have to bank it in all the powder, which involves a lot of levering on a 1000 lb sled. But I'll admit that it's really fun to play with.

Out on the new trails with Anna. Pretty soft and punchy, even in the center of the track, so double poling was about 50% success each time. But still good. And lots of soft stuff made the downhills easy. Course A

Grooming ski-o at Boca. Too much powder! Stepping off the snowmobile was easily waist deep. I was doing ok as long as I didn't sidehill too much, then I went up something too steep and buried the sled. Had to walk back out to the car to get the ratchet straps and a bigger shovel. Got it unstuck and was feeling bold, so I groomed some more, though I skipped a lot of places it would have been nice to go. Looks like it'll be an ok map anyway, and maybe I'll go back out in a couple days once it sets up some more.

Up at TD. Lots of snow, and the trails they had groomed were ok, if a little soft and punchy.

Note

No outside today, except for the occasional shoveling. But Carol and I did go spelunking into the crawl space under the house to try to figure out why there was a hot spot on the floor of the living room (thinking it was a broken heating duct spewing hot air at the floor). No, turns out it's a real heating vent that they just put flooring down on top of without cutting a hole. Also there are two other cases of that that we found by trying to match up ductwork with visible vents, one in the bathroom and one under the kitchen counter.
