Hiking 1:00:00 [2]
Sabino Canyon in the wake of Cristina & John. Gorgeous. Snow in the mntns. Smells so fine. No mntn lion attacks. I pulled a very smooth move to help a lady cross a running wash. She held my offered hand.

Sadly, "Public nudity is prohibited" says the sign at the trailhead.
Bicycling 20:00 [2]
On Seabass' old bike to the grocery store. Some hills.

I think I am realizing I need to admit my powerlessness over my training and put myself in the hands of, well, what? who?

Also feeling a bit nervous about the knee, in the face of the upcoming week in Tucson.

Oh, and, Happy Valentines Day! I love you all!

Note
Well, I did a lot of sweating this morning, but it wasn't because I was exercising. I was presenting to the ISCB board about the visa issue, and arguing for continuing our FASEB membership, and recommending a revised software sharing policy. My underarms started prickling about 30 minutes before the meeting. Everything ended up going rather swimmingly. Coming into the meeting, the directors were inclined to end our FASEB involvement, but half a dozen spoke saying that they'd changed their mind based on the work we've done with FASEB on visas. Our South African Executive Committee member even said that four people came up to her independently and said, isn't it great that ISCB is tackling the issue of making it easier for us to travel to the US? And the software sharing statement was accepted with a minor tweak. Going to have to pop some champagne once I get to Tucson.

Now I have to get to work on the ISCB orienteering event in Toronto at our conference this coming summer.

Tuesday Feb 12

Running 26:00 [1]
Drove to school for a meeting with the principal about the kids who were caught where they weren't supposed to be on Friday night. They are going to get a talking-to, and their parents will be notified, and they will be banned from the next school dance. The principal is a beautiful battle-axe; I fear and admire her. Her daughter built a boarding school for 7th grade girls in Rwanda, and is teaching there now.

Left the car near school for the pickup later today, and ran from there to work.
Running 23:00 [1]

Bicycling 8:00 [1]
That was painful. Painfully cold. Windy. And I lost my balaclava at the IMAX theater Saturday. (Where I took a nap in those lovely reclined seats while the rest of the family & Cici watched the movie about sea dinosaurs.)

Things are still insanely crazily busy...
