Note

Today I emailed siggerudk@gao.gov, minnellit@gao.gov, congrel@gao.gov
Subject: Audit for President Trump's financial concerns

Dear Ms. Siggerud and Mr. Minnelli,
I’m writing in support of Senator Elizabeth Warren's request for an audit of President Trump's finances, to prohibit conflicts of interest that would prevent him from carrying out the responsibilities of the office without corrupt influence.
Sincerely,
Barb

UPDATE: Got this back:
Thank you for your message. If it concerns the request that the Government Accountability Office received from Senator Warren and Congressman Cummings regarding the presidential transition, GAO has already accepted this request in accordance with our established procedures for working with the Congress. We will conduct the work in the same non-partisan, fact-based approach we take with all Congressional requests

Further update: EWarran saying that she wasn't encouraging us to make this request in the first place - check with her before taking action like that...

Also I did a bunch of NEOC scheduling...

Bicycling 24:00 [1]

I got a bit stressed at work.

Made some progress on the AZ training camp.
And on the NEOC 2017 schedule - applying for 4 permits tomorrow.

Bicycling 24:00 [2]

Today I am mulling over this.
Facebook was not just peddling fake news. They were providing the data and means for microtargeting just the right misinformation to sway and create voters.
I think we need Microtargeting for Truth.

Note

I need to section off the time that I work on OUSA, as it has been somewhat overtaking lately. I'm not going to do anything about OUSA the rest of the day. Need to focus on NEOC, Navigation Games, etc.

Today I signed up at https://represent.us/

PT 25:00 [2]

Abbreviated session. Decided to avoid doing anything with my shoulder until I see the doctor on Feb 2. It's getting worse.

Note

Today I will visit an immigration lawyer to ask about bringing orienteers into the USA on behalf of Navigation Games, to teach and coach with a focus on youth.

Over the weekend I spent about 12 hours working on the 2016 Financial Statements, to try and get them into a format that I think will work for us. Long hard slog, and got stuck at the end, so starting again in a new way today. Met with both Pat and Ian by phone on Sunday, separately.

Note

True or false?: today is the birthday of Emma Waddington, Isak Prellner, AND Erin Schirm.

Bicycling 50:00 [3]

This was surprisingly hard. Bike trailer full of control stands including a bunch of heavy cones, fighting the wind and rain/snow to get to North Point Park. Set out controls for the 6 13-15 year olds we are training each Monday. I wanted them to experience e-punching.

Set out controls and then picked up the distant ones.

Afterward we returned to our house where we had them log on Attackpoint. Ethan showed them some Catching Features. Ethan talked to them about training. I showed a presentation about contours and we did some simple armchair on contours. Then we watched a couple orienteering videos. Then I drove them home and didn't actually run Theo over though it was close.

Note

Pia, Ed, Ethan, Wendy, Ian F and I are planning a Youth Orienteering Series to take place in conjunction with regularly scheduled NEOC, Navigation Games and CSU events in 2017. We met yesterday to further our plans. Pia has been researching youth curricula from Sweden and has ordered materials and read some of the lesson plans and other material from the Swedish Orienteering Federation. Wendy is leading the logistics, and thinking about things like the experience of parents and kids when they first arrive at our event. Ed is providing technical expertise and will direct at least one of the events.
