Note

I'm all in on orienteering business (OUSA, NEOC, CSU, Navigation Games) until my three-year OUSA term is up in 2019. Some people contribute by being a steady presence for decades. I am better suited to shorter more intense bursts of effort. This is the time for me to contribute to orienteering, and after 2019, I will be moving to different endeavors. I hope that by then I will have been able to contribute to junior orienteering in the US, and to making orienteering more sustainable in this country, with more people involved. Although, I guess by 2019 I'll have put in 7 years of sustained effort starting with the crazy and wonderful Junior Team Administrator time.

A very good weekend at West Point for the Cambridge team. Nobody broke their arm; the closest was a banged up knee that took Theo out on the second day. We took first place in both of the categories (F14 and M16), and Keegan blew away the competition. Our other M16 runners had some really good legs; it was quite encouraging. Maybe this weekly training thing pays off.

Sometimes I find myself wondering how different stories are related. The milk lobby is claiming that immigration raids could raise the price of milk. And Trump is blaming Canadian dairy industry for US dairy industry losses.

I've also been wondering whether anyone is tallying the income to Trump industries from the presidency, specifically income to Trump properties from visits by Trump, his entourage, secret service, and foreign and domestic persons meeting with administration officials. Presumably that dwarfs his presidential income, which was donated to National Park Service, cuts to which also dwarf that income.

Will the latest Trump directive to the State Department about foreign worker visas affect our hypothetical H1B mappers? Regardless, let's move on this while we still have the status quo.

Grace Ralston, my ex-grandmother-in-law, whom I visited recently in Albuquerque, and is 103, is doing poorly.
