Note

I had another working session with Tori Campbell today, who is doing a great job as VP Youth Initiatives. We spoke with Kevin and my jaw dropped at the resources that they have up there in Vermont for orienteering. Really exciting stuff. Tori and I also talked about next steps with the Map Grant program, as well as exchanging info about what NG is up to and talking a lot about modern teaching methods. This included the UDL grid that she's showed me before, but which had even more meaning after attending the Health and Phys Ed teachers conference last week.

In other news, starting next week I'll have a daily 7am meeting with developers in Russia, for "work work" (to distinguish from orienteering work). Daily. 7am. The cool thing is that this will eventually result in me not being responsible for a key component of the database storing my company's important data. Which is part of me getting to where I'm not responsible for anything at my company.

Orienteering race 2:00:00 [3]

East section of the Blue Hills Traverse. It was cold and raining hard. I did not have the best gear. However, I used a thumb compass with a magnifier for the first time - wow! I made a few bobbles, notably on the last control before the road crossing, where I went too high and too far and came down a steep rocky slope duh. I was glad to be in the woods though it wiped me out for the rest of the day...
