Decided to use the Easter weekend well and hike the
second loop of the
Müllerthal trail, since I had never really been in Luxemburg. Didn't quite make the travel to Echternach in one day, so had to camp near Bitburg and start early the next day. Around 9.00 I started the hike from Echternacherbrück on the border.
Awesome route like I expected, really fun to crawl through some narrow cracks and use the headlamp when it got too dark to see. I did miss the nice views sometimes though, it was mostly hiking through valleys and admiring the rock formations.
Did a small extra loop of around 5,5km between Berdorf and Grundhof to enjoy the view during my lunch break. In the end I overestimated myself a bit and got really sore achilleses. I guess that's due to a lack of physical exercise the last months, the numerous climbs and descents and the backpack with all the equipment I was wearing. Couldn't stop yet, because it was only 16.00 and I didn't want to be bored all the time before I could finally pitch my tent and go sleep.
Had some dinner and finally stopped at 18.15. Pitched the tent at a great place on top of one of the rocks, giving me my own little rock-island for the night :D Out of sight, because it was impossible to see on top of the rocks from the trail beneath.
