Easy morning ride, taking in all of the 'climbs' around here. Bit of rain in the beginning, then the sun came out and it got very pleasant. Took it very easy the last few km.

Enjoyed the terrain, course setting was ok but could've been more interesting. Feeling good physically up to 30', after that I missed the stamina. Shin doing well, only started feeling it on the way to the penultimate control.

Mistakes:
1) Had a good attackpoint, but drifted the wrong direction and then couldn't make out the map. Seems like I ran past the control by a few meters... Dad was searching too and he called me when he found it. According to GPS it was misplaced a bit too. +2'10".
4) Slight hesitation just before the control, I saw the thicket but the white forest wasn't as white in reality. Took my time to be absolutely sure. +15".
7) Very sloppy in the beginning of the leg, not taking a good compass bearing. Corrected when seeing the hill just south of the red line. +10".
8) Was completely sure of myself but then didn't recognise the rough open patch just before the control, so stopped 20m before the control to make sure I was there where I thought I was. 10".
16) Confused in the control circle, expected the control closer to the open area. Checked the map again and then realised my mistake. +15".
17) Didn't recognise the thin black line as the paved cycling trail it was. So, got to a trail and started following it without checking compass. Essentially a parallel error. Noticed my mistake when I started seeing the huge open area. +45".
19) Wanted to take the trail route, but it wasn't there where I expected so then hesitated a bit. +10".

What went well:
-Compass bearings; when I actually took the effort to use my compass I was using it well.

And what could be better:
-Planning ahead; was a bit hesitant to plan ahead, afraid of losing track of where I currently was. Route choices might've been better on some legs. Also a bit slow exiting controls, taking a compass bearing first then starting to run again.

Might do a training on wednesday to focus on these things :)

Running warm up/down 7:07 [1] 1.1 km (6:27 / km) +8m 6:14 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 340

And a short cool down during a massive rain shower. Shin a little sensitive.

Weather predictions weren't good for the afternoon, so went out early. Stopped by the lookout tower, hadn't been up in some time. Going a bit faster than I planned, but that was only because I felt good physically. Little detour at the end, was having too much fun to stop early!

slept:9.0 (rest day)

Shin feeling ok in the morning. Strange, sensitivity increases after training, but doesn't seem to get worse with consecutive days of running.

No time to train today.

Shin reacted a bit more to the training last evening, but this morning everything was fine again so thought another run wouldn't hurt.

Prerunning some courses for the club training on 28th. Fun :) Navigating quite alright, a few small mistakes and insecurities here and there but nothing big. No flags out so had to make sure I was in the right place.

Orienteering 18:29 intensity: (6:00 @1) + (2:00 @2) + (3:00 @3) + (7:29 @4) **** 2.66 km (6:57 / km) +25m 6:38 / km
8c shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 340

Second exercise; Golf-O. Did this one alone so it was quite hard to keep track of time (20" max. looking at the map each time). Messed up one control badly, checked it in the cooling down afterwards and it seems I just interpreted the map wrong. Finished the course with 17 'swings'.

Orienteering warm up/down 14:54 intensity: (7:00 @1) + (5:00 @2) + (2:54 @3) ** 2.35 km (6:20 / km) +10m 6:12 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 340

Easy cooling down, feeling the shin a little bit.

Itchy feet! Had to try if my shin/knee was holding up and besides that I really longed for some physical exercise. Small run round the neighbourhood.

In short the situation: After (I think) the near crash I had with my bike, the upper part of my shin started hurting slightly. That feeling went away, but when I hit exactly that spot against a branch when taking in the training controls on Veldhuizen two weeks ago, the pain started again and the lump got bigger. Right now it feels like a small boney lump sticking out at on the top part of my shin (right under the knee). Pretty much only hurts when I touch it quite hard.

The run itself was ok, felt my shin very lightly at the end, after I took a small break to pick some blackberries, but really very very lightly. Not that worried, but will see the doctor for it anyway soon.
