Map+route

Geke sent me out as first, after two good runs by her and Erik. Went out about 1' before Michel, and even though I didn't feel stressed about that I orienteered in a stressed, rushed way. Didn't have a nice flow, couldn't get into the map nicely and made a lot of small mistakes. Picked it up near the end but then again made a big mistake. I think it's mainly due to a lack of racing, missing routine in my orienteering. Fortunately Michel also didn't have a perfect run and we came in first, 2'30" ahead :)

Strangely enough I felt strong physically, always had an extra gear. Wasn't running slow though, so that's positive.

1) Picked up the little trail just before the circle, but then missed the junction and found myself one trail too far. Annoying dog chased me there too. +35".
4) Not precise enough with compass, so when I hit the trail I misinterpreted the map and started searching in the wrong part of forest. Realised it relatively quickly. +1'.
5) Lots of hesitating in the circle. Didn't have a good attackpoint in the vague area. Finally moved 5m east and spotted the control. +25".
6) Track looks good, but in reality I had no plan and ran vaguely in the right direction during the first half of the leg.
7) Could've been straighter in the end, but this was secure. +10".
8) Not precise enough reading the contours into the control, gambled there. Had to relocate in the circle. +20".
9) Wanted to follow the northern route, but messed up and follow the MTB trail. Hesitation halfway because I wasn't sure where I was on the trail. +30".
10) Good plan, taking the southern route. Execution failed slightly in the last part. +15".
12) Minor hesitation in the circle, knew I read the contours well but still doubted myself.
13) Started reading ahead halfway, and then got confused on a crossing. Took me time to relocate. In hindsight I already messed up when hitting the trail for the first time out of 12, wanted to go more west. +45".
15) Went around on purpose, but could've exited 14 better.
16) No plan, same as 6: it looks good but it felt risky. Relocated halfway though.
17) No plan. Hit the two trails and good a bit confused, but relocated quickly. +5".
19) Bearing wasn't fantastic, then lost myself on the mix of little trails. Spotted another control, then finally relocated on the NE-SW trail near 19. Could've been worse, but was already quite bad. +1'20". Reran it during cool-down and still got confused, but already understood better what happened. Next time better compass bearing and more security in position before I leave the trail I'm on.
21) Unnecessary fighting through the green. +10".

Partly cloudy 18°C.

Little random run through the city. Right calf a bit tight after 20', I blame that on my inactivity last weeks. Toe and achilles good. Two short accelerations near the end.
